Principal’s Message Well here we are more than two months into the school year al-ready. This has been a great fall for our school and this past month has been full of wonderful learning experiences for our stu-dents.
October kicked off with our Toonies for Terry run which was a great success. Our spirit Jersey day was also well received and many students and staff participated. We had a great set of inter-views on October 6th with over 85% of our families attend-ing. Following the Thanksgiving weekend we had a fantastic event where our Medicine Garden was smudged and planted. This was well attended by our FNMI families and students. The next week our Rebels Kick off was a roaring success. The classes picked the player that will be visiting and working with them over the year. We are fortunate to have the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club as one of our business partners since 1993. The partnership provides our students with exemplary role models for perseverance, teamwork, volunteerism, community service, and more. Their regular visits throughout the hockey season give them an opportunity to feel a part of our school and community. To end the month we had our “Take Me Outside“ day where all the students had PE and recess outside and our health action team sponsored a big crunch snack after Halloween. Our monthly assembly was fantastic with Miss Kenny and her grade 5 class hosting the event. The Parent Coun-cil Halloween dance was spooktacular with everyone in full cos-tume and all the families here to enjoy the event. During all this fun stuff we had great learning opportunities and field studies to ensure the curriculum was being covered. What a great month! November will also feature a number of great field studies and learning opportunities and we look forward to hearing all about them. School Council/Parent Association meeting is on November 21st.
You can help your children about how they learn best, to take re-sponsibility for their learning, and acknowledge their efforts while you guide them toward continued growth. As November moves along, you can help your children by taking interest in their daily work, giving them specific feedback about what they are doing well, finding a quiet place and time for homework (without TV or other electronic distractions), making sure they get enough sleep, and helping them start each day in a calm and organized way. In-terviews are on December 8th, watch for information about on line bookings coming up starting November 25, 2016. Larry Hartel

a box in the front foyer of our school with the Christmas Tree, at the beginning
of December. All unwrapped gifts in the box by the tree, will be picked up
the week of December 12. Please have all gifts under the tree before that time.
Thank you for making Christmas special for everyone this year…..
Remember, all gifts are unwrapped.
It’s the Season of Giving
Annie L. Gaetz School has a tradition of giving to our community during the
Christmas Season. There has been an increase of service this year so our
Giving Tree is supporting the Red Deer Food Bank. The Giving Tree will
be displayed from December 1 - 20th. During this time, we invite parents to
come help their children pick an ornament from the tree. This ornament
will have the name of supplies greatly needed by the food bank.
Annie L. Gaetz has always been a very generous community.
We thank you in advance for helping ease the load of many families
in Red Deer this Christmas season.
