Powers and duties of its officers and employees

Office of Inspector General of Registration and Commissioner of Stamps : -

1. Working Procedures of the Inspector General of Registration andCommissioner of Stamps are held according to the following Act.

(i) Registration Act 1-08(ii) Karnataka Stamp Act 1957.(iii) Indian Stamp Act 1899.

2. Inspection and Control over all the District Registrar Offices. 3. Making necessary rules according to Registration Act 1908.4. Repayment of the excess penalty received by the authorized officers

according to Registration Act 1908 under section 25 or 34.5. Revision of orders passed by District Registrars (According to Karnataka

Stamp Act 1957) U/s. 53A6. According to the Karnataka Stamp Act 1957, u/s. 67-B inspect certain

Documents and spot Inspection and making necessary decisions.7. Refund of excess Stamp fees, which were collected by the publics.8. Making stay orders for the Inspections and penalties (According to

Karnataka Stamp Act 1957)9. Institution and Conduct of prosecutions.(Sec 64 Of Karnataka Stamp Act -

1964)10. Recovery of Registration fees and Stamp duty not levied or short levied.
