*Anne Frank*
• Born on June 12, 1929 in Frankfurt Germany
• Lived in Frankfurt for 3 more years then moved to Amsterdam, the Netherlands
• Moved to Amsterdam in February 1934
Anne Frank’s Diary
• Received a diary on June 12, 1942 (her birthday)
• She named it “Kitty”• Her first letter said “I
hope I shall be able to confide in you completely , as I have never been able to do in anyone before,and I hope you will be a great support and comfort to me.”
Secret Annex
• Left early in the morning of July 6, 1942 to go into hiding
• Very spacious • Anne Frank shared a
room with her sister, then later on she shared a room with Mr. Pfeffer
Other families in the Secret Annex
• This is the other family living with the Frank family
• Anne Frank later fell in love with Peter van Pels while in hiding
Karl Silberbauer
• The police officer who arrested the families in the Secret Annex
• The day after their arrest, they were transferred to a holding cell
Concentration Camps
• Anne Frank and the rest of the people that were in the Secret Annex were transferred to a concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau
• Taken there in September of 1944
• Edith Frank died here on January 6, 1945
Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp
• This is were Anne and Margot Frank died of Typhus in 1945
• The conditions in Bergen-Belsen were so bad that tens of thousands of people died. Anne and Margot died a few weeks before the camp was liberated by the British Army
Otto Frank
• Anne Frank’s dad• Thanks to him The Diary
of a Young Girl: Anne Frank was published
• Later on he married Elfriede Geiringer
• Died on August 19, 1980 in Birsfelden, a suburb of Basel
• Donated the pages of Anne’s diary to the State of the Netherlands
The Dutch Red Cross
• Did not issue an official declaration of Anne Frank’s death until 1954.
• Made declarations for both Anne and Margot Frank in 1954 of their deaths
