Music is the main language and the way to be free. Anna Mikhailova Composition | Improviser [Koto | Keyboards | Objects | Noise ] | Theater Director | Performer Anna is awarded contemporary composer and theater director, was born in 1984 in Moscow and studied composition, electronic music [Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory,Russia, Royal Conservatory, Den Hague, Netherlands], koto, organ [Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory] and music theater [ Codarts, Rotterdam, Netherlands]. Since 2008 Anna is making operas and exploring the possibilities of many kinds of musical instruments, diversity of sounds and performing spaces, improvising and making interactive performances and installations. Her daily research focuses within the world of situationists, notation of sound and human voice. One of her recent works, opera “Sisters”, commissioned by Diamantfabriek, was performed during Muziek Theater Dagen A’dam 2014, The Netherlands, opera “Psychogeography. Henri Lefebvre versus Guy Debord” was performed during Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Utrecht. The composition “Bonus of Binary Balance” was commissioned by the ensemble Klangforum Wien and performed at the Impuls Festival for contemporary music, Graz, Austria, 2013. Anna’s graphic scores were exhibited in De KetelFactory, Schiedam, The Netherlands, 2013, Stroom, 2014, The Netherlands.
