PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
BANKSIA BULLETIN - Thursday 14 May 2020
Mt Martha Primary School strives to empower students to be active learners who make a positive
impact in a changing world.
Our Mission is to ensure high quality and engaging learning program that builds
on the capability of every student.
Staged return to face to face teaching Information concerning the staged return to face to face teaching was sent on Tuesday afternoon via Compass. Mount Martha Primary School is certainly a different place with only a few students on site. We look forward to welcoming our students back to the classroom.
To reiterate some information from Tuesday’s Compass posting:
In the first stage of the return, students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 will return to school from Tuesday 26 May. In the second stage of our return to on-site schooling, all other year levels will return to school from Tuesday 9 June.
To support all school staff to prepare for this transition, Monday 25 May will be a pupil-free day. No students are required at school on this day. Out of Hours Care will offer a program for a limited number of students. See the information in this newsletter.
For those students who cannot be supervised at home and vulnerable children, the existing model of on-site schooling will remain in place during the two-week period from Tuesday 26 May to Tuesday 9 June. The current process that we are using to enable parents and carers to indicate the days or part-days for which on-site schooling is required will continue for this two-week period.
Once a year level has returned, all students will be expected to attend school as normal. This means if you choose to keep your child/children home after their year level has returned to on-site schooling, we can no longer support their learning from home.
This does not apply to children who need to be absent for health or medical reasons. For those families, please contact us so we can make an appropriate plan.
This same approach is being taken by all government schools in Victoria with the decision taken on the basis of the best health advice available to our state.
We are waiting for more detailed information from DET which will outline further measures and protocols to resume face to face learning and to assist in keeping our students, parents and staff safe. We will provide parents with additional information to assist in the return to school.
More information about the return to school and coronavirus (COVID-19) can be found on the Department’s website, which will continue to be updated: https://www.education.vic.gov.au/about/department/Pages/coronavirus.aspx I would like to thank everyone once again for your outstanding support and work educating your children in the remote learning program.
Welcome - A huge welcome to Brayan D Prep and his family who joined our school community this week.
2021 Prep Enrolment - Our 2021 Prep enrolment process is commencing. Expressions of Interest for 2021 Prep may be made by contacting the Office by phone or by emailing the school at [email protected]. Information will be sent to preschools and childcare centres in the very near future.
COVID -19 Information - In these times a reminder that using trusted and accurate sources of information is so important. For example https://www.vic.gov.au/, https://www.australia.gov.au/, and https://www.health.gov.au continue to provide comprehensive and accurate information.
Kind regards
Martin Page
