Title : SMALL BLUE, SMALL YELLOW Period : 1 st term Grade/Level P4 Authors: Francesca, Helena, Mercedes, Montserrat P

MOTIVATIONOne Monday morning, a little child asked us: why do colours exist? That was the beginning of a discussion in the classroom. There where a lot of theories. In the end, we decided to investigate that issue in class. We invested 2 sessions per week, during two weeks, discovering colours around the classroom, learning colour songs and filming the performances. The story SMALL BLUE, SMALL YELLOW gave us the opportunity to explore how to melt colours in abig piece of paper in order to create new colours. Finally, we had the chance to play with colours on a computer.

We would like to remark that the main target of the whole topic was oral expression.

3rd session: Now, Its time to listen a story (whole group)

Today, the puppet wants to tell us the story: SMALL BLUE, SMALL YELLOW.This is a story about two little kids who after melting together, couldnt be recognised by their own parents. Only after crying, they turned again into theirnatural colour. Then, the kids were accepted by their parents, so everybody felt happy again .

That nice story will help us teach children how basic colours turn into new ones. Furthermore, emotions like happiness, sadness, love will appear through thestory. After the story, we will invite children to experiment the changes of the colours with paper, paint and straws. At the end of the session, each child will beallowed to take their work home.

Material needed: The story SMALL BLUE, SMALL YELLOW, paper, paint and straws.
