The Zoo Keeper Railroad

Santa Fe Locomotive No. 2912 was built in 1944 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and is one of the last surviving, and only Colorado example, of the final class of steam powered locomotives to be ordered by the Santa Fe Railroad. The 2900 series was both the largest and heaviest Northern-type locomotives built in the United States. This is the first of 3 pins honoring Colorado’s “Founders” Clubs. A “Founders” Club in Lionism is one that was chartered when LCI was first organized in 1917. NOTE: When you see the actual pin, you will note that the locomotive is practically merged into the building next to it. We apologize for the poor quality of the reproduc-tion, even though it was scanned at 1200 dpi.

Of Note: Lion Harry Fulwiler (VA) being a dog owner, claims that Lion Mike Connor has come up with the perfect set for all the weary canine lovers. You issue your dog specific commands like “fetch”, “sit”, etc., and the poor thing just stands there like portrayed in these pins. However, when you say “stay”, the dog is gone almost instantly. You will notice that the last pin in Lion Mike’s set agrees with Lion Harry’s assessment. You see the dog in all the pins but the last one and that’s because, as Harry says, the dog is gone. Harry wishes he would had thought of this idea as a tribute to his little pooch, “Boomer”.
