Biography

• Vassallo was born in Acciaroli September 22, 1953.

(Acciaroli is one of the best known and most popular resorts on the coast of Cilento)

• He was elected mayor for the first time on April 3, 2005 and was also Director of the Province of Salerno

Who was Vassallo?• Angelo Vassallo was the mayor

of Pollica in Salerno (Campania) and he was the victim of a Camorra’s attak on 5 September 2010.

• The battles over the legality and respect for the environment, on which he had invested as a public administrator, had yielded to the coastal town of Cilento awards as the "blue flags"and a revival of tourism.

Why Angelo Vassallo?• Vassallo was known as the “fischermayor”, for his past as fisherman and for

the love for the sea and the land. Environmentalist,loved by his citizens, is remembered also for his singular ordinances. In fact in January 2010 signed an ordinance that provided a fine up to 1000€ for the people which trow ashore ash and cigarette butts.

• He loved the legality and he knew to risk the life in a land where the State has abdicated to his role and where olny few men and women stay in trench. Vassallo knew it, but he didn't let go and for this he was killed. Another time the Mafia silenced who doesn't crawl without dignity in front of the Boss.

• A first exemplary citizen who with his battles for the legality and for the respect of the environment has annoyed the lords of death and destruction.

The social purposes

• the contrast of any form of illegality and criminal subculture;protect the rights of citizens;

• the promotion of active intervention and participated in events by citizens in defense of cultural heritage, nature and landscape;

• protect human, animal and plant species and the environment at large;

ABILITY

Vassallo believed in his actions and in the power pf territory very important as turistic and economics source.

He worked also to promove mediterranean diet into patrimony oh humanity (olive oil, cereals, vegetables, fruits);

Vassallo would have liked that human beings lived in harmony with their environment.
