A Note from the Director

Ibelieve in my soul that there is no greater thing to fight for than Love. In this time, it seems to be lacking. All the things that I was taught as a child; to love thy neighbor and to help your fellow man are in short supply

these days. I stopped subscribing to religions when they began to yield their message like a weapon. It seems as though what I was taught and the way it was used were two very different things. I still believe in the idea of Love, though.

It was from this idea that my “concept” grew. I couldn’t see myself trying to change how I came to love this show, so I didn’t change the look or even the events. What I could do was to take the idea of Love and see where that would lead us. Granted, some of the characters may not Love the same things as the others, but it is no less.

As we share this production with you filled with our Love, I would like to invite you to share a Love of yours in the “blossoming wall”. Take the title “I Love…” and write anything that you Love. It could be French fries or whatever. If you’d like, you can write why, but it’s not required. Then roll up the paper and stick it into the wall.

At the end of the run, we will have it converted into an online book and shared on the WVLO Facebook page. The goal I am hoping for is that you take away that feeling of Love you carry inside you and that you set it free into the world.

Thank you for supporting the Arts and I hope you enjoy the show.

—Love, Jery

WHO’S WHO IN OUR CASTLisa Allen (Ensemble) Lisa returns for her third production with WVLO, hav-

ing just appeared in “Fiddler On the Roof” as Grandma Tzeitel. She was previously seen in Dolly Parton’s “9 To 5” last season. Other theatrical credits include “Kismet” and “Carousel” with LTSJ, “Legally Blonde” and “Grand Hotel” with SCP and WCT’s “South Pacific”. She enjoys yoga, theater singing, gaming and reading and sends her love to husband, Jim, and kids, Brandon and Katie for patiently allowing her to pursue this time-consuming hobby!

Marlene Berner (Ensemble) A recent resident in California, Marlene makes her debut on our WVLO stage with an impressive list of theatrical credits from NYC, including leading and supporting roles in productions of “Bye, Bye Birdie”, “Fiddler On The Roof”, “Kiss Me, Kate”, “Pippin”, “The Music Man”, “Carmen”, “Into The Woods” and “She Loves Me”. Her favorite roles were Rose Alvarez in “Bye, Bye Birdie”, Golde in “Fiddler” and Ilona Ritter in “She Loves Me”. She earned her BA in Music from WSU as well as a Performance Certificate from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. Marlene’s highlight of her career is her current job at Apple because it has led to a lot of accomplishment and pride. Her goal is to progress at Apple and of course, continue to perform.

Emily Bradford (Ensemble) Emily makes her WVLO debut in this produc-tion, and is thrilled to finally be in her ‘absolute favorite show’!! She first appeared on stage in “Annie” back in 2003, but has performed with Eastland Performing Arts in several productions, her most recent as Princess Puffer (her favorite role to date) in “The Mystery of Edwin Drood”. Other credits with that group include “The Sound of Music” and “The Miss Firecracker Contest”. She earned her BS in Information Technology from the University of Cincinnati and is employed by Apple as a software engineer. Her parents and sister are still living in Ohio! Her wish is to continue to perform in our local productions!

Kevin Brownstein (Peter/Judas US) Kevin comes to us as a newcomer, but was just recently seen in SCP’s “Pippin”. With a major background in Opera, he thought this production was a perfect opportunity to broaden his experience both as a musician and an actor. He has also appeared as Manolo Costazuela in the female version of “The Odd Couple” and as Mr. Dussel in “The Diary of Anne Frank”, both with NJC Prairie Players. A native of Landstuhl, Germany, Kevin grew up in Colorado and during the day works as a Photolithography Inspector at TDK Headway Technologies. He sends his gratitude to family and friends for their continued support of his crazy adventure that is Musical Theater.

Michael Carey (Priest #3) Michael returns for his third production with WVLO, his first was in “Sweet Charity” as Oscar and in last season’s “9 To 5” as Dick. Over the past few years, Bay Area theater-goers have seen him as Buddy

in “City of Angels” and Amos in “Chicago” at Hillbarn Theatre, Lt. Branigan in SBMT’s “Guys & Dolls”, Rosser in PAP’s “Parade” and the Starkeeper for LTSJ’s “Carousel”. Other favorite roles include Frankie in “Forever Plaid”, Leon in “Fools”, Max in “Lend Me a Tenor” and Pseudolus in “A Funny Thing….Forum”. But his most acclaimed performance occurred late last year as he was joined in matrimony to his love, Sierra! Congratulations, you two!

Angela Cesena (Mary Magdalene) Angela is back on our stage for her second production with WVLO, having just appeared in “Fiddler On The Roof” as Fruma-Sarah. She wanted to be in this show because she enjoyed her experience in “Fid-dler”. Other theatrical credits include the role of Mother Superior for Saratoga HS’s “The Sound Of Music”, and in the Dance Corps in FMT’s “Damn Yankees”. She is currently pursuing her MA in Education at Hope International University and is a HS Spanish teacher at Magnolia Science Academy. He future goals are to complete her MA and play the Witch in “Into The Woods”! The highlight of her career was writing, directing and producing a children’s musical at her last school.

Rick Cooper (Matthew) Rick is another newcomer to our WVLO stage and has real incentive to be included, his son, Andy Cooperfauss, plays Judas, so this is really a “family” affair! Rick first appeared as Harold Hill in “Music Man” back in 1992 and most recently played Ali Hakim in “Oklahoma!” He earned his BA in Music at Ohio State University and is employed as an Account Manager at AVI-SPL. He enjoys running, skiing and scuba diving.

Andrew Cooperfauss (Judas Iscariot) Andrew joins our cast for his first ap-pearance with WVLO and has his father (Rick Cooper) and his girlfriend (Jessica Whittemore) as supporters! His first theatrical appearance was in SBMT’s ensemble of “Les Miserables” last year. Andy earned his BS from Ohio State University in Political Science and is the Editor-in-Chief at ChannelFireball.com. This role is the highlight of his career thus far and even though he is new to theater, he’s been bitten by the ‘theater bug’ and he can’t get enough. He’ll be back!!!!

David Cori (Priest #2) David is back for his second appearance with WVLO, having first appeared as Lt. Ward and Mr. Bumbles in “Annie” in 2012. His other theatrical credits include ATC where he performed his favorite role, that of the Narrator in “The Rocky Horror Show”, as well as “Little Shop of Horrors”, “As-sassins” and “The Odd Couple”. A native Californian, he earned his BA from UC Berkeley, his MA from SCU and by day works for Wells Fargo Bank as a Risk Manager. He is learning Chinese and striving to improve his singing so we expect he’ll be around awhile.

M. Gerald Crofoot (Ensemble) Jerry returns for his second production with WVLO, having previously been seen in the ensemble in Dolly Parton’s “9 To 5”. He wanted to be in this musical to support Jery Rosas’ directorial debut. He has also appeared with Shady Shakespeare and is CEO of Glitchbusters. A native San

Franciscan, he met and married our Vocal Director, Judith Steinle, 23 years ago in a community chorus. Jerry holds several credentials in financial planning and tax preparation. As a classical tenor, his hobbies include membership in the SJ Symphony Chorus and playing percussion in symphonic bands and in theater orchestra pits.

Chris Cruz (Nathaniel) Chris joins WVLO for the first time, but most re-cently appeared as Lewis in SCP’s production of “Pippin”. As a student at SJSU, he performed in several of their productions, such as “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “Tartuffe” and the premiere production of John Cheever’s “The Swimmer and Other Suburban Stories”. A native San Josean, Chris is a disabled caretaker and Birthday Party Engineer by day and enjoys ballet and video games in his spare time. The highlight of his career was being accepted into SJSU Dance programs and his future goal is to be a professional actor/dancer.

Ian Douglas (Priest #1) This marks Ian’s tenth production with WVLO, his most recent was his performance as Motel in “Fiddler On The Roof”. Previously, he was seen in “Sugar”, “Annie”, “West Side Story”, “Grease”, “Cats”, “Once Upon a Mattress”, “Mame” and “Aida”. Other theatrical credits include productions with SCP (one of his favorite roles was Otto Kringelein in “Grand Hotel”), ATC, PAP, PACT, FMT and STOC. He was most recently seen in SCP’s production of “Pip-pin”. When he’s not on stage, Ian enjoys roller skating and collecting cast albums. He sends special thanks to his parents for their support.

Nique Eagen (Soul Girl) Nique also makes her debut in this production because she wanted an opportunity to work with Jery, our Director. Her most recent performance was in LTSJ’s “Brigadoon” as Kate and Meg’s Understudy. Other credits include “Guys & Dolls”, “Working”, “Anton in Show Business”, “The Last Days of Judas Iscariot”, as well as “Ragtime”, both with SBMT and Marquee Productions of CMTSJ. By day, Nique works for Structural Integrity as a Front Desk Administrator and holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Point Park University. The highlight of her career was performing at the Producer’s Club in NYC as Avis in “Black Metropolis”.
