• The Chevron-operated Wheatstone and

Gorgon Projects have entered into three key

partnerships with the intent to bring together

a group that can help build local business

capacity and capability.

• From business concept to operations, the

Program will provide support and guidance to

small businesses to help them grow and

compete – particularly in the resource sector.

• Each partner provides a suite of services

along the business development continuum

• The program has been developed to support

and empower individuals to create new and

diverse businesses, increase the availability of

locally provided goods and services and

contribute to the community’s economic

growth and diversity.


West Pilbara Business Support Program - WPBSP

• The business support is focused at two levels:

The community trust or PCB ; and

Family businesses.

• One of the key outcomes of this program is to ensure that businesses are commercially ready to commence operations and that the owners understand the effort required to run a business.

• The WPBSP provides businesses with an opportunity to access free expert confidential financial, commercial, mentoring, and strategic advice.

• Redspear Safety Pty Ltd is a Noongar

Aboriginal business that was established specifically to meet the demands of

the oil and gas, mining and construction sectors is safety equipment.

Redspear Safety aims to provide for all safety requirements under one roof

including specialising in the supply of:

• Quayside Container Services is a 100% Indigenous

Company that is a partnership between Thalanjyi & Noongar

Members which provides marine and quarantine container

management services. This includes container inspections, container wash

downs, repairs and maintenance, testing and tagging and labour hire.

Currently Quayside has 100% aboriginal employment and is looking to

train 2 employees with the international inspection standards.

• Engineered fall protection (EFP);

• Confined space rescue and retrieval systems;

• Lifting and rigging and Deep sea mooring

solutions;

• Mobile structures;

• Materials handling;


Business Success Stories

• Kaarunga Media is a 100% family owned and operated Palyku

Traditional Owner business.

• This is a print management business that has developed into that

sustainable business winning work in the business, government and the

not-for-profit sectors.

• This family has also started Ngurra Coffee which is also a 100% family

owned and operated. Through our connections they work with

Northbridge Coffee Roasters.

• Impact Media is a 100% Indigenous

business which has worked with all the

WPBSP partners to grow and develop her media and marketing business

in Karratha.


Successful Businesses

• Barmelco Electrical Pty Ltd, is a 100% Indigenous Pilbara owned

business, which has developed into a diverse electrical contracting

business that can run projects up to $10 million successfully.

• Some key stats:

• 25 Staff

• 1100 LTI days

• Currently 3 of 5 apprentices are Indigenous.

• The business has trained 2 apprentices to become qualified electricians

• Clients include:

• Hardcore Mechanical

Services is a 50% Palyku

traditional land owner business. It

specialises in supplying heavy

duty diesel fitters as well as highly

experience operators, drill fitters,

crusher fitters, boilermakers,

serviceman’s.

• The business has grown from two

brothers in law working in it to

having 10 service men in 4 sites.

• Clients include:

– Koodaideri Pty Ltd is a 100%

Pilbara Aboriginal family owned and

operated business that is a provider

of dry-hire construction machinery

and equipment.

– Koodaideri is RIO CAT 3 pre-

qualified

– Koodaideri has a number of JV’s

– Koodaideri Vento Group JV

– Koodaideri / Gravity Alliance

– Koodaideri has won a number of

major civil projects & placed a lots

of pieces of equipment into mining

operations.
