I've studied Ceramics Art and Design at Soares dos Reis Artistic Highschool. In 2014 I finished my studies in Industrial Design at Escola Superior de Estudos Industriais e de Gestão do Instituto Politécnico do Porto (School of Industrial and Management Studies of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto).

I am passionate about the arts in general, being music, cinema, painting and photography the ones that prevail. I'm a person interested in social, political, cultural and scientific aspects, considering that those are also engines of inspiration and creative development.

I am a committed person, easily adaptable to any work environment. I have good communication skills, at ease in learning various software and with passion for creating and learning.

Special Project "Refrigerated Display Cases"

SmartShelter

PROJECT | Bus ShelterTITLE | SmartshelterYEAR | 2014DESCRIPTION | Developed as a Final Project on the Industrial Design course, Smartshelter has a corten steel structure that tries to invoke the human side missing in these industrialized elements, being apart of a piece of street furniture, a sculptural piece. Returning the public use object to its users.


SKETCHES | The concept went through the symbolism of the Yin and Yang, and then a single structure made of sheet metal. Finally in the developing of the concept, it was tampered until we get the shape of an hourglass


Its hollow structure for the passage of electric cables, has now been simplified by a cut and the slope of the roof was increased to give some asymmetry and reduce its visual weight.

DETAIL | The structure has an extension which is buried in order to have a better distribution of weight and increase the lift.

Advertricity

PROJECT | Personal Project - low voltage cabinetTITLE | AdvertricityYEAR | 2014DESCRIPTION | The low-voltage distribution cabinets, are a piece of urban furniture always present in any landscape, whether rural or urban, having no aesthetic component or other function beyond the one it was created for. "Advertricity" arises as a low-voltage distribution cabinet with a second component: advertise.

Drill Dude Company

PROJECT | Restyling a drillTITLE | Drill Dude CompanyYEAR | 2013DESCRPTION | Given the limitations of not changing the electrical components in the re-design of a drill, the volumes were reduced and considering the latest retro-vintage trends, the major influence on the design of this equipment are the rayguns popularized in the 50's and 60's sci-fi movies, here with the aim of giving a more "relaxed" style to these kind of equipment. With this "relaxed" concept came the idea for the brand "Drill Dude Company" based on the main character in the Cohen Brothers film The Big Lebowski who calls himslef "The Dude".

The initial idea was decrease the dimensions of the drill and give it a small cut at the top.

Later there was a search on Rayguns and dryers from the 50's and 60's. This sketch is the result of that search on a chromatic level

The Bro Code

PROJECT | Multifunction closet for student residence roomTITLE | The Bro CodeYEAR | 2013DESCRIPTION | The Bro Code is a splitter for a room 3m x 6m, where two students would live. The intention was to design low cost furniture that could include several components. So this not only splits as it works as a clothes closet, study area, bed, sofa, dining table.

PROJECT | Folding ChairTITLE | A Perfect CircleYEAR | 2013DESCRIPTION | A Perfect Circle is a folding chair and chaise longue whose concept of its forms is a single circle, as this pure form is associated with a variety of symbols and it is challenging to draw with such a limit as a single shape being this piece an ode to it. The birch plywood was the material of choice due to its light weight and lower production costs

PROJECT | Urban Mobility in the FutureTITLE | VolareYEAR | 2013DESCRIPTION | The future includes reducing fossil fuel vehicles and so the hybrid or electric cars begin increasingly become a reality in urban daily lives so that the city centers are beginning to limit the entry of some more polluting vehicles in those areas considering that those areas are less opened compared to standard and as such the air circulation is not so fluid making the air deeply affected by the pollution. Another problem in some cities is in the scale, because the streets and mobility zones are conditioned to the old architecture of the space. Volare is an answer to that, a small motorcycle to transport merchandise, inspired by a Piaggio Ape with the particularity of having two power supplies: Photovoltaic film applied over the top of the load box and through power plug as a normal electric car without compromising the autonomy of the vehicle in case one of this power sources fails. It may also be possible to charge devices by USB.


Portuguese Family

PROJECT | Projecting StoneTITLE | Portuguese FamilyYEAR | 2012DESCRIPTION | Twenty years have passed since Arcalo has recovered Gonçalo Chair, a portuguese tubular chair made by a master blacksmith named Gonçalo Rodrigues dos Santos in the 30's. Portuguese Family is a tribute to it, a set of outdoor furniture made out of wood and marble and easy to assemble, having screws only in the area that connects to the ground and in the back to hold the wooden slats. The table follows the same logic where the legs create the link with the marble structure of the chairs and are also seen as sculptural pieces with some influences from Ross Lovegroove

The G-Spot

PROJECT | ThroneTITLE | The G SpotYEAR | 2011DESCRIPTION | The G-Spot, a chair meant to pay tribute to a personality, and for this purpose it was chosen the musician Nick Cave. A rocking chair based on the American culture of rocking chairs on porches in western films, appreciated by the musician, together with a polished aluminium structure based on a 50's car bumper. Its arms are lower close to the seat and have supports to play guitar while reading a lyric or a musical score.

Moving Store

PROJECT | Restyle a CaravanTITLE | Moving StoreYEAR | 2013/2014DESCRIPTION | J. Sousa Mesquita is a company that builds caravans. The company wanted the restyling of one of its oldest lines that currently is used for commercial purposes. So here is born the "Moving Store", a caravan that is prepared to be a commercial stand for caravans concentrations, fairs or campsites. It embraces a product display area and, stock storage thereof, as well as modular exhibition furniture.

Sasquatch

PROJECT | Restyiling a SkateTITLE | SasquatchYEAR | 2012/2013DESCRIPTION | A skateboard is apparently a simple shape, however there are different kinds of skateboards, according to their type of use, Sasquatch is a vert skateboard, or a skateboard designed for tricks and experienced skaters, having your deck a smaller cut and therefore more difficult to handle. Your Design will "drink" to the origins of his predecessors' 60s. Sasquatch is another name from the famous American legend Big Foot, which made perfect sense for a product that is essentially used with the feet.

PROJECT | Carrinho de MãoTITLE | N/AYEAR | 2012/2013DESCRIPTION | The aim was to re-design a hand truck and possible improvements of the same, so, obvious issues of ergonomics were thought, adding an aesthetic side. As example are the latex sleeves that help hold better and allow two positions of handling of the equipment. Also, an extension to increase the amount of transportation was added
