to their emergency ambulance. Heretofore they had only a tank whichheld a half hour's supply and there was always the dread that sometraffic mishap might hold them up and the precious supply run out,no Glen Rhodes, who you'll find manning the equipment, is breathingmuch easier. By the way,your FireDepartmentneeds you as a member.You won't get any pay. Pan of your tax dollar goes to keep up as wellas provide decent equipment, but the manpower end of it is strictlyvolunteer. So, if you're physically able, they need you. We've been

Returning from Fort Myersthe other evening, the sight ofthe police officer's car withat least 12 others gatheredaround BILL and MAE SHAN-NON'S real estate office gaveus a bit of a shock, but itwas short lived when we learnedit was a big party being givenfor Mae's sister, Mrs. ELINORMESSENGER and h e r f o u rdaughters, PATRICIA, CATHY,PAULA and MARY, and herson BILL. This was Mrs.Messenger's first trip to Cap-tiva Island from Marion, Ohio,and they really lived it up fora week's time,

Mae managed to Invite folksin every age bracket rangingfrom 19 months to 55 yearsso everyone could have a goodtime. Before Mae and Bill seta bountiful buffet table for themultitude, they took them ona tour down the new Fort MyersBeach and Bo n i t a SpringsCauseway, and then back'overto Cape Coral no see the por-poise show and the beautiful

display of playing water foun-tains. Leave it to Mae andBill to do all things well.

Dr. HOMER HINDMAN andMr. JOHN ILLYN really gotmore than they bargained forlast week when they went outfor an innocent day of ladyfish catching for Mr. Illyn'sbirds. Dr. Hindman cast theline about three quarters of amile off Pine Island and gota strike, but it was no littlelady fish on the hook — it wasa 113 pound shark. Our Homerbegan reeling in his line, butthe competition was much toogreat so Mr. Illyn started upthe motor and attempted to tireout their catch by pulling ittoward shore, John thought itwas getting a bit too much forour Homer so he took the lineand manned the boat until theygot into shallow enough waterto jump out—which Mr. Illyndid and then whamed Mr. Sharkwith a mallet until he gave upthe ghost. You can imagine thefrenzy Homer's LILLIAN wasin when he didn't arrive homeuntil after 6:00 p.m. with narya word. And those of you whoknow his Lillian can well hearher greeting—anyway all is nowwell and Lillian is busy con-verting the jaw bone and teethof the catch into somethingvery special,
