The SC connector features a 2.5mm Zirconia Ceramic ferrule and a push/pull coupling mechanism for a fast and reliable connection.

A range of pigtail, simplex and duplex SC connectors are manufactured including Standard, Premium Low Loss and High Performance Grades which are suitable for various applications.

The SC connectors are available for singlemode UPC with blue boots, for

APC with green boots and for multimode PC with red or black boots suitable for 900µm, 2mm or 3mm cable diameters.

The SC/APC connector is available with a pre-angled ferrule designed for 8 degree angle polishing.

The SC connector housing and duplex clip are available in standard colours including blue (singlemode), green (singlemode APC) and beige (multimode).

Singlemode Multimode

The LC connector features a 1.25mm Zirconia ferrule in a small form factor (SFF) fibre optic connector housing with a snag free latch which gives an audible click upon engaging for reliable and high density connections.

A range of pigtail, simplex and duplex LC connectors are manufactured including Standard, Premium Low Loss and High Performance Grades which are suitable for various applications.

The LC connectors are available for singlemode UPC with white or blue

boots, for APC with green boots and for multimode PC with white, red or black boots suitable for 900µm or 3mm cable diameters or with heatshrink and crimp cable retention method for 2mm cable diameters (white and yellow for duplex and yellow for simplex).

The LC connector is available in simplex and duplex (with clips) in standard colours including blue (singlemode) , green (singlemode APC) and beige (multimode).

To accompany these connectors, we can also supply all the items needed for their preparation in a handy tool kit. Step one

Strip fibre : Strip and cleave the fibre according to the template provided.

Insert fibre : Insert the pre-prepared fibre carefully in to the connector body, gently push the fibre towards the body until it stops.

Activate tab : Ensure that the fibre has a bend, then, using your index finger, press the button-like activator tab to commence the splice and crimp. Keeping the tab pressed while slowly releasing the bent fibre

Remove the jig : Remove the plastic jig attached to the underside of the connector.

Complete the assembly: Tighten the screw-on boot to the terminated assembly. If there is an aramid strength member, trap it in the screw-thread and trim.

Video Fibre Inspection Probe (OPT-VFIP-V2)

The Optronics Video Fibre Inspection Probe (OPT-VFIP) is the perfect tool for ensuring that fibre optic connector end faces are clean and clear from dirt and contamination; the number one cause of network failure. The lightweight, compact probe fits comfortably in the palm of the hand or can be strapped on to your wrist and with single-handed focusing it is easy to establish a clear, sharp image of the connector end face. The probe uses coaxial illumination to show a greater level of detail with an optical resolution of 0.75 µm. The rugged hand held video display unit has a 2.6” LCD screen and is operated using an easy to navigate menu system. The unit accepts micro SD memory cards for images or video data storage of contaminated or cleaned connector end faces. Pen-style Visual Fault Locator (OPTVFL-2)

The OPTVFL-2 is a slim-line, compact visual fault locator, designed to troubleshoot faults on fibre optic cables. It’s light-weight, pen style makes it ideal for the installer to carry with them on site. The OPTVFL-2 is an excellent addition to an engineers tool set because it can locate broken fibre inside the OTDR’s dead-zone. Being portable and light it lends itself to other applications, including end-to-end continuity checks, identifying connectors in patch panels, and identifying fibres during splicing operations. The universal connector interface provides fast operation with many connector styles, without the need to change adapters.

Test and MeasurementM210 Multifunction Micro OTDR

The M210 and M310 are the only inspection ready QUAD OTDRs that combine OTDR, OPM and VFL capability with a proven, easy-to-use and easy-to-learn user interface. The M210 offers the intuitive Touch and Test user interface in a rugged, lightweight, easy-to-hold package ready for fielduse. The M210 features a powerful processing engine, a high resolution display and, for the first time in an OTDR of its size, an integrated Optical Power Meter.

Touch and Test simplifies the M210 user experience, minimizes human errors and reduces training time by providing one-touch access to the Full-Auto, Expert and Real-Time OTDR test modes, OPM measurement mode as well as the Results Management and Job Creation menus. The M210 allows setting Pass/Fail thresholds to industry standard TIA, ISO or user-values and will automatically alert users of failing fibres. Touch and Test enables both experts and novices alike to complete jobs more accurately and in less time.

M310 Enterprise OTDR

Enterprise networks have evolved in ways that create more demanding testing of optical cables. This requires an OTDR that can accurately locate and measure closely spaced events on high speed networks. The M310 has the short dead zones required to test these networks. The large number of cable runs in modern enterprise networks and data centers, requires automated detection and measurement of all events in each cable. The M310 provides accurate and reliable event analysis for these critical networks. The M310’s Enhanced Event Analysis software is a product of extensive research into the properties of fibre optic cable events and provides a new level of accuracy and reliability in field test equipment.

The M310 OTDR operates at 850nm and 1300nm multimode and 1310nm and 1550nm single mode and is optimized for testing, analyzing and troubleshooting enterprise, data center, LAN/WAN, campus and military fibre networks

Rugged, lightweight and easy to hold, the M310 has a Touch and Test user interface that makes it easy for experts and novices to test and document fibre networks accurately and quickly. With an integrated, Optical Power Meter and Visual Fault Locator the M310 provides complete Tier 1 insertion loss and Tier 2 OTDR testing. Using pre-set Industry ISO and TIA standards or user set Pass/Fail thresholds, technicians are alerted to installation problems and failures. The M310 can be ordered with an Advanced Analysis software option that includes Macro/Microbend detection and Bi-directional trace analysis.

End face inspection can be performed using the optional DFS1 Digital Fibre Scope. OTDR traces , OPM measurements and fibre endface images can be saved together in a job and downloaded to a computer for analyzing and editing using the included Test Results Manager, TRM® 2.0 application software.

Cleaning Products Lint Free Tissues

Lint free tissues are a versatile consumable for many applications. They are mainly used to clean bare fibre as part of the termination or splicing process.

The lint free characteristic allows them to be used for a multitude of other purposes such as cleaning optical equipment and preparing work surfaces.

IPA Wipes

The Optronics pre-saturated wipes contain 99% pure IPA or isopropyl alcohol. The wipe material is made from a high quality, non-abrasive, lint free fabric.

They can efficiently remove dust, grease, oil, flux, soils and other contaminants and residues from substrates prior to bonding such as bare optical fibre during a termination or splicing process.

Foam Buds

Foam buds are the ideal consumable for cleaning bulkheads after installation. They are used to clean the end faces of installed connectors, from inside the enclosure. The snug fit from the foam head will also remove any contaminants found inside the adapter.

Micro Sticks

Micro fibre sticks are the ideal consumable for cleaning 1.25mm bulkheads after installation. They can be used to clean the end faces of installed connectors, from inside the enclosure.

Cleaning is achieved by inserting the micro fibre tip inside the adapter’s aperture and twisting once. The micro fibre material allows the user to clean installed connector end faces without scratching the surface, and ensures a perfect clean first time

Connector Performance

FibreFab connectors and adaptors are subjected to reliability and performance testing in a programme including type approval and continuous monitoring. When terminated using best practices, typical optical performance meets or exceeds the stated performance and will meet appropriate standards including IEC 61755-3-1/2, ISO/IEC 11801 and TIA/EIA 598.

Production quality control procedures monitor all critical parameters including ferrule OD, ID, roundness and concentricity. A unique, in-house developed concentricity test set is used to inspect ferrules and terminated assemblies. Our products conform to LSZH, OFNR and OFNP material classificationsand to the material requirements of the RoHS directive and REACH SvHC regulations.

Terminated connectors are tested for insertion loss (master lead/ random mating) and reflection loss which follows the IEC 61300-3-4/34 and IEC 61300-3-6 standards. FibreFab has developed a proprietary random mating simulation tool which gives a strong insight into the complex interaction between the factors including ferrule and fibre dimensions, end face geometry, polish surface finish and axial contact force for the master lead test and the random mating test. The random mating tests gives a good indication about the average test results and the worst case performance results which depend on the above factors.
