New World Times had just conducted a search of all the High schools in New York's Southern Tier region looking for their next best Junior reporter. New World Times is looking to gain more teen readers globally. Several student essay’s were secretly submitted by Social Studies teacher’s across the region. You have been chosen as one of the new junior reporters for New World Times the most popular and widely read newspaper of the day. You will design a Teen friendly newsletter as a spin off to the New World Times newspaper. Your first Newsletter will be built around two actual topics in ancient Greek history. Remember the New World Times is one of the most popular Newspapers, with readers from around the world. This news letter project is due Monday October 29th.

You will design a Teen friendly newsletter as a spin off to the New World Times newspaper. Your Newsletter will be built around two actual topics in ancient Greek history. Your newsletter must also include at least one ancient Greek advertisement/announcement you create. You must also add a current event from today’s time into your newsletter. Thus making a connection from ancient times to present time. You will become the editors and writers of your newsletter. You may use information from "Classical Greece" Chapter 5 of our textbook and resources websites. You must illustrate your newsletter section with your own designs and with images obtained from web sites (cite all information, including the source of information with each of your pictures). Each picture must have a caption describing what the picture is about. For this assignment you will be able to partner up with another junior reporter or continue the work as an individual. You will be graded as individuals and/or combined grades if you partner up. Remember the New World Times is one of the most popular Newspapers, with readers from around the world. Be sure to check your conclusion assignment.

You will prepare your newsletter with two ancient Greek historical topics, create one Greek advertisement/announcement and add one current events article.

A news report of an event (war) Write your newsletters HEADLINES announcing the news of that event. Identify the date (year only is okay).  Style: The important event is told about in the headlines, captions, and identified in the first paragraph. The article may include interviews and/or descriptions by eye-witnesses. It gives background to explain events in later paragraphs. Advertisement or announcement for an upcoming entertainment event (religious festival, a play at a theater, musician at a party, etc.) – Describe what will go on there in detail. – Tell when the event will be, where it is, and how much it will cost to get in (religious festivals

were free, plays might have an admission of one drachma for a good seat; parties would be by invitation usually according to class or family connections).

– Give an opinion about the place or event and try to convince the readers to go there (or to stay away from there if you don't like it).

– Report on Olympic Games (but these only happened every four years. During times of war there would be a truce declared so the sporting events could go on.) Practice for these events would be ongoing at the gymnasiums.
