HANDS-ON ANATOMICAL GUIDED INSTRUCTION

The AAOM instructors will initiate this course teaching you to understandthe anatomy as part of a well rounded expert in the field of IROM.Instructors will cover the history, safety, and concepts of both PRP andProlotherapy for IROM. Training will be focused on developing basicknowledge and concepts of hands-on skills of physical exam, anatomy,and topographical target location and marking using both palpation andultrasound-guided methods.

Day 1 will be focused on the lower extremity including the hip, knee,ankle and foot.

Course DescriptionThe AAOM offers a Practical Workshop to physicians to further their training, education and practiceof Interventional Regenerative Orthopedic Medicine ("IROM") – with PRP and Prolotherapy. TheWorkshop design includes instruction on patient evaluation and diagnosis, solutions, needleplacement, injection technique and patient treatments. The course provides a hands-on exposure toboth PRP and Prolotherapy for the physician under the guidance of experienced instructors allowingyouto gain firsthand experience which can then be used in your own practices at home. The coursealso provides medical care to patients at no cost allowing many to receive care for chronic painconditions that might otherwise go untreated.

This IROM educational course and medical mission takes place in beautiful Cancún, Mexico,designed to give each physician-learner a direct, hands-on treatment experience with live patients. The Workshop is a high-volume live patient experience, so the physician-learner can expect topersonally perform supervised, directed, palpation-guided PRP and Prolotherapy injections onmultiple patients.

Our host physician and Clinic Coordinator is Dr. Wajid Burad, a Cancún native and Sports MedicinePhysician, who coordinates the patient recruitment, treatment, and follow-up care of all the localpatients.

Course is limited to 21 physician-learners.

DAY 2 & 3 Friday and Saturday, October 4-5, 2019

TRAINING STATIONS- LIVE PATIENT INSTRUCTION

Through both palpation and ultrasound imaging, our instructors will teach you how to reach your target in all peripheral joints.You will learn to perform US-guided of both PRP and Prolotherapy injections on multiple live patients, under the supervision of your instructor.Day 2 will be focused on the upper extremity including the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Day 3 will be focused on the spine and spinal ligaments.All PRP is processedand prepared for injection in a certified Lab.The physician-learner will be instructed with no more than 4:1 student to instructor ratio.

INTENDED AUDIENCEThis workshop is designed for those interested in including prolotherapy,PRP, Stem Cells and other Interventional and Regenerative OrthopedicMedicine treatments, technologies and procedures for treating painand injury, overuse syndromes and chronic pain conditions affectingthe Back, Pelvis, and extremities. The target audience is PM&Rspecialists (Physiatrists), Family Medicine Sports Medicine, OrthopedicSurgeons, Neurologists, and Interventional Pain Physicians; includingAnesthesiologists.

CME CREDITSThis activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with theaccreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council forContinuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership ofFoundation for Care Management (FCM) and AAOM. The FCM is accredited bythe Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to providecontinuing medical education for physicians.

The FCM will designate this live activity for 30 AMA PRA Category 1Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with theextent of their participation in the activity.

Thursday - Saturday, we will depart from Finest Playa Mujeras at 8:00 am onthe AAOM Shuttle to the Clinic. We will begin each clinic day seeing patients. Lunch will be at the Clinic. We plan to finish by 3:00 - 3:30 pm and then returnto the hotel.
