Questionnaire

Previously, we have sent out questionnaires electronically but haven’t always had the response we needed. Therefore, we had decided to hand the questionnaires personally during the parent evenings this term.

The questionnaire had been structured into 2 parts, a quantitative component and a qualitative component which together provide a more holistic picture of parent perception.

The qualitative aspect of this questionnaire focused on getting parents’ views on each of the 14 questions asked as well as parental engagement. After each question, allocated space was provided, should parents want to include additional information. This provided some qualitative data.

Respondents

Parents evenings was attended by Reception, Year 1 and 2 parents. In total we have 268 children on roll in these year groups. This year we received a total of 201 questionnaires. This means that 75% of parents responded.

The response to the qualitative aspect of the questionnaire was greater than the qualitative.

Actions for the Future

We aim to arrange a meeting with parents who have expressed their views as disagree and strongly disagree.

We have made a note of parent suggestions on the following areas and aim to address these:

-consistency in homework;

-more after school clubs;

-an opportunity for parents to visit the classrooms;

-workshops/coffee mornings.
