The words ‘you are’ directly address the audience to make them feel involved

The first line includes a question directly addressing the audience, this makes the broadcast feel personalised

Again another question is asked to the audience – synthetic personalisation.

Opening with constant questions keeps the audience entertained and engaged

Personal pronouns like ‘we’ and ‘our’ make the audience feel involved

Although ‘UK’ does take away the closeness to home aspect as if it said ‘Oldham’ it would be more personal

Personal to audience

‘UK’ engages the audience as they live in the UK

average, if we actually think back historically the industry that Oldham was founded, such as cotton mills have been in decline over the past 40 years or so and Oldham has really had to adapt like many other towns to growing their economy in other ways so what I think that means for in terms of the recession, Oldham will eventually survived to recession but it will take more than the rest of the country

1min31secs-44secs: (Masroor) In other news, Whittles Rock Pub which was previously due for possible closure, he reassures us that is going to stay well and truly open. We sent our entertainment correspondent Alex Wild to Whittles Rock Pub.

1min45secs-50secs: (Alex Wild) I visited Whittles Rock Pub to speak to Keef Lawrence on how he supports bands, here’s what he had to say.

1min51secs-53sec: (Interview)(Alex Wild) So how many bands play at Whittles on average in a month.

1min52secs-2min4secs: (Keef Lawrence) Well there’s live music Wednesdays is the acoustic night sometimes on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the moment and Sunday we have the jam session

2mins5secs-6secs: (Alex Wild) I also wanted to know… Do you give young bands a chance to maybe get seen by potential managers and things like that?

Not as personal for audience than at the start

Information relevant to the audience

A question the audience may want the answer too.

2mins7secs-23secs: (Keef Lawrence) Yeah, got a band on this Thursday, Kyle who’s actually at the Sixth Form College I believe.

2mins26-27secs: (Keef Lawrence) Bone Idle.

2mins28-38secs: (Masroor) And finally there has been a lot of controversy over the Oscars 2013 winners of ‘Best Picture’, we sent Olivia our reporter to interview members of Oldham Sixth Form College on their opinions.

2mins39-41secs: (Olivia Cuthbert) Argo won best picture award do you think that was the right decision?

2mins42-51secs: (Voxpop 1) No I don’t I think Django Unchained because all the characters were well better like the character choices they was really good and the story like was a better concept.

2mins52-59secs: (Voxpop 2) I think so a lot of people think that Django should’ve won but in my opinion I think that was the right decision

3mins-3mins2secs: (Voxpop 3) Yes most definitely I think it out beat Django

3mins3secs: (outro) Oldham Community Radio 99.7fm

Keeping the audience engaged

Personal pronoun ‘we’.

Gives name of reporter, makes the audience engaged. Gives extra info (reporters name)

Vox pops are relatable for the audience as the interviews may be with people of a similar age of themselves
