The late John Whitney Walter was known as Mr. 1796, in tribute to his incredible collection of United States coins of that year, sold by our firm in 1999. However, his numismatic interests were varied, with a concentration on quality and an interest in history. In fact, earlier he had built the Men of Rome Collection, which we had the honor of auctioning in 1990. At this year’s Official Auction of the ANA World’s Fair of Money, Mr. Walter’s family is pleased to present additional pieces from his collection, including ancient coins, federal United States coins, mint errors, and paper money. As was true of our earlier offerings, the items to be presented in our August 2018 Philadelphia auction will again display the connoisseurship for which Mr. Walter was renowned.

I’ve received the latest batch of Stack’s Bowers Galleries catalogs and they are very impressive, as always! A numismatist can learn a lot from reading these catalogs. They’re enjoyable to study, even in categories you don’t actively collect. I appreciate the attention your catalogers give to every entry.

I just wanted to let you know how happy I am that I chose Stack’s Bowers Galleries to present my note collection for auction. Your company has been extremely professional and honest, communicating with me throughout this process. As someone who is out of state and could not personally hand my collection to you - you made the whole process very easy. I just received the auction catalog Saturday and appreciate that you showcased a couple of my notes!

I especially like your on-line bidding platform. The feature offering the ability to view a number of notes at the same time allows me to compare five or six notes at once. I also appreciate that you post most of your auctions at least four weeks in advance.

I find both the desktop and iPhone bidding process very easy. I especially like that the iPhone app allows me to bid from anywhere. One time I even bid using the app while sitting in the room of the live auction.

I love viewing coins on your site. The photos are so clear and it is a smooth experience. Of all the sites I have visited, yours is the best. I always look forward to your auctions.

Everyone at your company with whom I associate seems so efficient. The invoice comes quickly as do the lots. I have nothing to complain about; you guys run a great ship.

You guys did great! I have been a client of Stack’s for over 35 years. I currently have more material consigned and look forward to consigning in the future.

My relationship with Stack’s Bowers is wonderful. Really everyone is great. I often sing John Pack’s praises, but Brian Kendrella, Scott Reiter, Vicken Yegparian, Steve Price and Wayne Berkley are all charming, bright and very welcoming. I also want to mention Carol, who I see at my bank and grocery store, and all the lovely ladies who take the time to say hello. I feel that Stack’s Bowers is a friendly place. Well done everyone. Thank you!
