The School of Engineering

• A high quality General Engineering Department, offering a four year MEng degree as well as a three year BEng degree.

• Common first two years followed by gradual specialisation in:

– Mechanical Engineering

– Aeronautical Engineering

– Manufacturing Engineering with Management

– Integrated Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

– Electronic Systems Engineering

– Electronic Engineering

– Civil Engineering

• Currently we have 38 Academic Members of Staff of which 9 are in the Design, Manufacture and Management Group

Engineering Track Record

• The School is rated as Excellent in Terms of Teaching (22 out of 24 points).

• Grade 5 Rating (since 1992) in the Government’s Research Assessment Exercise

• Enjoys excellent reputation in General Engineering being ranked;

– 4th by the Guardian (2003)

– 5th by the Times (2003) and

– 11th in Europe by Der Spiegel

• Current intake 160 students per annum on the MEng programme

• Average A Level score is approx. 28.3 points or AAB.
