Character Creation - Background
Character Origins● You select an area
your character hails from within the region
Deity Affiliation● You select a divinity
for your character to praise
Titles● You gain a title, depending on your character's
origin and deity which may be toggled from your character sheet on the history tab in the game (c)
● Other titles are acquired as you progress in the game
Names● Your character name may include
spacing which allows for the addition of surnames and such
Adding Friends
Shards● There are few shards in Neverwinter: Mindflayer,
Beholder, or Dragon ● To play the game with friends you will need to be
on the same shard● Reportedly, eventually, the shards will be merged;
but until merger you will need to be on the same shard as your friends
Social Interface● To find a person you need to open
“Social” in the game (o) and go to the corresponding tab
Finding People● You can search by character name and add that
character as a friend● You can search by account name, to search and
add by account name you must type @insert name here, adding friends this way ensures you will be friends with all of their characters
Account Names● When you sign up you are asked to create an account
name● A setting in the game makes account names visible
after character names, it is off by default, to turn this setting on you need to go to options/interface/chat (esc)
● Turning this setting on is recommended●
Navigating
Quest Path● A convenient sparkly line of “bread crumbs” that leads
you in the direction of your objective, to know what your objectives are open your quest log (j)
● The path can be diverted to any point on the map by clicking a spot on the map (m), clicking the spot creates a marker on the map, this marker remains until you remove it (even after you reach your destination), clicking on the marker in the map removes it
Change Instance● It is possible that even if you are on the same
shard as a friend you might not be in the same instance
● Areas are instanced to alleviate traffic● You can switch instances and join your friend
by click the option in the lower right corner of the map (m)
● A list will be generated giving the population of the different instances and will state how many friends you have among the populous
Combat
At-Will● Left & Right Click● Powers that can be
used at any time
Encounter● Q, e, & r keys● Powers that suffer
a cooldown of varying seconds
Daily● 1 & 2 keys● Powers that can only
be used by building up action points
Shift + Movement● Evasive maneuvers that change
depending on your class and are dependent on stamina
Movement● WASD● Or you might chose to bind
them to you arrow keys – Options/Gameplay/Keybinds (esc)
