The companies of our trading subsidiary Mabanaft do business

around the world, trading in diesel, gasoline, heating oil, heavy

fuel oil, jet fuel, lubricants, bitumen and other petroleum

products. The focuses of their business include heating oil

retail, an extensive network of service stations, and the fuelling

of ships. We also trade in liquefied petroleum gas, coal, as well

as biofuels.

Flexibility, stringent risk management and a clear focus on

physical oil trading are the cornerstones of our trading busi-

ness. Also, Mabanaft can rely on a good infrastructure, which

beyond the tank terminals of its sister company Oiltanking

includes many more delivery outlets. This ensures a compre-

hensive, quick and flexible supply of goods to customers.

storage logistics and is now the second-largest independent

tank storage provider for petroleum products, chemicals and

gases worldwide. The company currently owns and operates

73 tank terminals on five continents with a total capacity of

more than 19 million cbm. Furthermore, Oiltanking persues

projects to acquire or construct further facilities in both existing

and new markets.

Oiltanking is a strong partner around the globe. The company

is impressive for its cutting-edge standards, tailor-made solu-

In between the world’s oil fields and its consumers, Oiltanking plays an important role as an operator of an

independent tank storage network. Tank terminals are used across the value chain – by private and state-

owned oil companies, refineries and traders in petroleum products and chemicals.

Oiltanking currently operates terminals in 22 countries with an annual throughput of 190 million tons.

Almost 1,000 different products are transshipped and stored worldwide, ranging from crude oil and

petroleum products to biofuels, chemicals and gases. Blending petroleum products is also part of the

portfolio.

In addition to owning and operating tank terminals, the Indian

subsidiary IOT Infrastructure & Energy Services also has engi-

pipelines, refineries and power plants in its portfolio.

Furthermore, its engineers advise companies in the petro-

leum and petrochemical industries on projects in the Middle

East and Asia. The company has a high level of expertise and

ex perience and combines top quality with cost efficiency.

Whether design, engineering, or project management, IOT

projects are always supervised by a dedicated in-house team

of highly qualified engineers. Oiltanking’s global experience is

Skytanking’s range of services includes aviation fuelling as

well as fuel storage and hydrant management at airports.

The company not only operates these facilities, but is also

active in the areas of finance and construction, as well as

offering a wide range of consulting and engineering services. Its

customers include airports, airlines and oil companies across

the world.

Skytanking has successfully established itself as one of the

leading companies in the market and is represented at more

than 40 airports in Europe, Asia and Africa. Every year, Skytanking

fuels more than one million aircraft. Further growth is planned,

especially in Europe and Asia.

Commercial aviation fuelling is carried out directly on the airport ramp; the fuel is pumped into the plane

using a fuel truck or delivered via a hydrant system and a dispenser.

Skytanking handles the entire fuelling process for its customers, and contributes to short ground times by

ensuring the timely fuelling of aircraft – from passenger aircraft to cargo planes, private jets and helicopters.

Safety is always the primary focus.

Every year, the Skytanking fleet of approximately 300 fuelling vehicles fuels more than 13 billion litres of jet

fuel – the equivalent of about two fuellings per minute.

At many airports Skytanking operates its own airport tank

farms and hydrant systems as well as third-party facilities on

behalf of airports, airlines and oil companies. Some of these

are BOOT contracts (Build-Own-Operate-Transfer), where

Skytanking is responsible for the financing, design, con-

struction and operation of fuel depots and hydrant systems.

This underlines the company’s technical as well as financial

ex pertise.

For years, renewable energies have been a growing part of the

energy supply. Marquard & Bahls has also been involved in

this field since the mid-1990s via several of its subsidiaries –

especially in the biogas sector.

B i o g a s P r o d u c t i o n a n d d i s t r i b u t i o n

Our Mabagas subsidiary produces biogas from organic residue

and waste. Mabagas deliberately refrains from using energy

crops at its plants to avoid competition with food production.

Currently, the company operates biogas plants in Germany

and India. In addition to producing electricity, Mabagas also

focuses on the production of fertilizer for agricultural use.

P r o v i d i n g B i o g a s

In Germany, biogas is currently offered as a vehicle fuel in

the form of bio-CNG (compressed natural gas) at ten selected

OIL! service stations and another independent service

station. The advantages are convincing: Bio-CNG is virtually

carbon-neutral and at the same time protects finite fossil

natural gas resources.

4:22 PM, Namakkal | The things you can make from chicken manure: At our plant in India we use it to produce biogas, which we then convert into electricity. The energy generated is sufficient to meet the annual require-ments of the equivalent of 5,000 Indian households.
