An Innovator’s Guide to HIMSS20 Powered by Together.Health
Day by Day Schedule We’ve gone ahead and broken down for you day by day, what we would suggest as the best schedule to
follow.
Day 1: Sunday, March 8th, 2020 Start the week off right by arriving in plenty of time to grab your badge without having to wait in long
lines, relax and get settled in before the madness begins. Most pre-conference symposiums start at 8am
Monday morning, so arriving on Sunday will give you the best chance at avoiding day-of travel delays
and be well rested to take on the day in the morning with your first pre-conference symposia.
Additionally, there are a few evening receptions you may want to take advantage of, if you get bored in
your hotel room that evening;
- 5:30pm – 8:15pm: Power Press Awards Gala (must apply to attend in advance)
- 6:00pm – 8:00pm: CIO Forum Opening Reception (must register for the CIO Forum to attend)
Day 2: Monday, March 9th, 2020
It’s the first full day of programming, with an abundance of optional pre-conference forums and
symposia to choose from. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these will require an additional
registration fee. However, if you took our advice and arrived on Sunday, plus have the budget to cover
the extra cost, then we strongly suggest you consider the list below for ones where we felt you (as an
innovator) would get the most bang for your buck. And lastly… we suggest you attempt to register asap
for two amazing receptions where you can rub elbows with fellow innovators like yourself!

Day 3: Tuesday, March 10th, 2020
It’s the first official day of the conference, and boy is there a lot of programming to consider! We
recommend getting in the right mindset by starting the day off with the President and CEO of HIMSS,
Hal Wolf, as he moderates a power packed panel of healthcare CEOs, forecasting the path forward for
Digital Health Transformation. Once you’ve been enlightened by this panel, we suggest you peruse the
exhibit floor for a few hours, and try to locate a few of the specialty pavilions & sessions we highlighted
earlier in the guide. Maybe even sit in on a session or two.
At 11am, be sure to make your way over to the Together.Health Spring Summit for a lunch and learn
about the power of collaboration, and witness what’s possible when 30+ regional healthcare innovation
ecosystem champions from across the country decide to pull the friction out of the healthcare
marketplace!
Next, and especially if you’re a startup, consider checking out Scaling Your Startup: A Workshop for
Entrepreneurs. And if you’re not a Startup, you may instead choose to attend the Microsoft Health
Forum and Innovation Awards, or alternatively you could use the remainder of the afternoon to setup
some one-on-one meetings in and around the exhibit floor.
For your last session of the day before hitting the evening receptions, you won’t want to miss the Special
Keynote Session, featuring HHS Secretary Alex Azar.
Now it’s time let loose, and start you’re evening off by swinging by the Official Pink Socks Meetup. If
you’ve never been to one before, you should know that all are welcome at this casual meetup of
passionate innovators, and there’s a good chance you may even leave with your very own pair of official
#PinkSocks!
Finally, we hope you’ve found your way onto the RSVP list for at least one of the many evening
receptions listed below, and you’re able to make some valuable contacts, and maybe even some new
friends!

Day 4: Wednesday, March 11th, 2020
Okay, congratulations… you’ve made it to the mid-point. And it’s not unusual that by now, you may be
losing some steam. But don’t give in! Instead, commit to attending as much of the Healht2.0 Venture
Connect program as possible. The morning is filled with amazing presentations and discussions, and
after the networking lunch, the remainder of the program will transition to the 3 pitch competitions and
a high powered fireside chat.
You could stay put at VentureConnect all day, but if you need a break, or weren’t willing to pay the extra
registration cost, then please consider the other innovation sessions we have listed below. And keep in
mind, it’s always a good idea to spend your “free time” near one of the many specialty pavilions &
sessions we have listed.
And finally, once again, the day will end with an absolutely CANT MISS Special Keynote Session,
featuring Seema Verma, Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and Don Rucker, MD,
National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, HHS. Under the 21st Century Cures Act, these
two national Health IT policy makers were required to establish Rules that would support greater
patient access to and interoperability of healthcare data. And as these two Proposed Rules get closer to
becoming Final, you absolutely must attend this session to understand what it will all mean for an
innovator like you!
After then, many will be breaking off to attend private dinners this night. But if you don’t have plans,
then please note that there are still a few other innovation related receptions included in our guide that
you may want to try and get on the list for.

Day 5: Thursday, March 12th, 2020
Thursday is the last day of the Exhibit Floor, and therefore a lot of attendees check out of their hotels
and head home at some point during the afternoon or early evening. Which is a shame, because to help
attendees from leaving, HIMSS packs in a ton of truly unique programming, such as the NursePitch
Competition, Life Changing Innovation Sessions, a presentation by the HHS Deputy Secretary, Eric
Hargan, and many more. And if that isn’t enough, they’ve also saved the biggest party of the week for
Thursday night, where they rent out the entire Universal Studios Resort Park (including special access to
numerous rides)

Day 6: Friday, March 13th, 2020
The exhibit floor is all broken down at this point, and many of the attendees have departed for home,
but if you’re one of the lucky ones to still be around on Friday, you’ll have a more peaceful, relaxed
environment, and still several strong innovation sessions to choose from. We highly recommend
checking out the three sessions listed below, and the closing keynote never disappoints. This year, they
have Alex Rodriguez laying out the mindset of a champion. The perfect frame of mind to leave us in, if
we’re all going to go back and have any chance of following up on all the energy, connections, and new
found knowledge we experienced at what is sure to be yet another successful HIMSS Global Conference!
