An Epistle from Paul:We Want That Guy! – Mike Kollin was a graduate of Auburn University and played professional football as a linebacker for the Miami Dolphins. Shug Jordan, Mike’s coach at Auburn asked Mike if

he would do some recruiting for him. Mike said, “Sure, coach. What kind of player are you looking for.?”

The coach said, “Well, Mike, you know there’s that fellow, you knock him down, he just stays down?” Mike said, “We don’t want him do we coach?”

“No, that’s right. Then there’s that fellow, you knock him down and he gets up, but you knock him down again and he stays down.”

Mike responded, “We don’t want him either, do we, coach?”Coach continued, “No, but Mike, there’s a fellow, you knock

him down, he gets up. Knock him down, he gets up. Knock him down, he gets up…”

Mike said, “That’s the guy we want, isn’t it, coach?!”Coach answered, “No, we don’t want him either.”Let me use the above to help illustrate another important

Biblical principle. What guy was Coach Jordan making reference to in response to Mike’s question? Shug Jordan said to Mike, “I want you to find that guy who’s knocking everybody down!”

The Biblical principle I want to illustrate with this is that of persistence and resolve. 1 Corinthians 15:58 and Galatians 6:9 both address this matter with like emphasis: “…knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.” “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”

Vacation Bible School – July 9th-13th!The theme for this year’s VBS is “Shipwrecked – Rescued by Jesus”. Each night from 6 PM to 8:15 PM young lives will be encouraged, challenged and lead through the Word of God. O, there will be recreation and fun times, but, there will be intense exposure to what the Bible says concerning our need to be rescued by Jesus… Please help us get the word out concerning this year’s effort. Let your neighbors who have young people know this is taking place and make a special effort to give them an invitation…

Conner and Taylor (grandkids of Dave/Angel Mills) are at camp this week… Evan Miller was at camp last week… We lift these and the other five who will be attending up in our prayers. Christian Service Camp is an intense week of instruction in the Word of God, worship to Him, and fellowship together with young people in like age groups. May these days of Christian Service Camp have a solid impact upon these young peoples’ lives. May it show them more Who Jesus is and what He has done for them…!!

Begin Soon! After we have completed our study in the book of Exodus, we will begin a new study in the Gospel of Mark. This will

be taking place on Wednesday, July 18th here at the building at 10 AM. We want invite and urge you to come and participate in this

verse by verse study of this the shortest of the four Gospels. Bring your Bible and come prepared for an indepth study of this book!!

If you can help along these lines it will go a long way in helping make this year’s VBS effort less of a burden to just a few!!
