Fifth Graduation Ceremony of M. Tech. and MBA Programs and Third Graduation Ceremony of th B.Tech. Programs was celebrated on Monday, 5 February, 2018. The Program Completion Certicates were conferred upon 599 B. Tech., 202 M. Tech. and 106 MBA students on this gracious occasion. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was Hon. Mr. Kishor Patil, the Co-founder, Managing Director and CEO of KPIT - a leading IT consulting and product engineering partner to automotive & transportation, manufacturing and energy & utilities corporations The Guest of . Honor was Dr. D. T. Shirke, Pro Vice Chancellor, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. The function was presided by Hon. Jayant Patil, MLA & Former Minister of Rural Development, Govt. of Maharashtra, Shri. R. D. Sawant, Secretary, Kasegaon Education Society and Member of the BOG and Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Director, RIT. The esteemed members of BOG, Members of Academic Council, Members of Board of Studies of various departments, Ofcials of Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Academicians and Industry persons from Pune Region, Parents of graduates and other invitees totaling to around 1,100 in number were present for this August gathering. The academic procession led by the topper amongst all programs held ag of the Institute followed by all dignitaries and graduates. The audience stood up as a mark of respect. After the lightening of holy lamp by the Chief Guest, a welcome song was presented by students of Music Club of RIT. The dignitaries were briey introduced followed by their felicitation by Hon. Jayant Patil. The graduation ceremony progressed with the Director administering the Oath of Professional Ethics and Life-Long Learning to all the pass-outs. The rankers of seven programs of B. Tech., eleven programs of M. Tech. and M.B.A., including the gold-medalist were felicitated with rank medals by the Chief Guest. This year the Gold Medal was awarded to Miss. Ashtekar Aishwarya Milind from B.Tech. Information Technology, Mr. Doiphode Milind Chandrashekhar from M.Tech. (Mechanical) Heat Power Engineering. Mr. Kamble Akshay Ashok, M. Tech. (Mechanical) Production Engineering had the privilege of being the Best Outgoing PG Student for the year 2016-2017. Project's Profile:

The project comprise mainly of construction of Tunnel (i.e. about 75 Km in length, the longest being 12

Km), Bridges (i.e. 300 numbers of Major/Minor bridges including one having 350m high piers),

Earthwork, Buildings, Railway, roads etc specicially between Dharam to Quazigund section of J & K

Rail Project with an estimated cost of Rs. 7250 Cr. The railway track is being constructed

predominantly in the hilly terrain with altitude ranging from EL 500m to EL 1700m making it even more

challenging and adventurous. Being the part of this prestigious project, Mr. Sushil kumar Kunwar

remained the in-charge of various sections ranging from Quazigund in Kashmir to Dharam in Jammu

for about 68 km stretch of the railway line (km 100-km168). The stretch involves about 70% of tunnels,

22% as bridges and 08% in open/earthwork.

Scope of works comprises of mass excavation (Braced and Open Cut Excavation) and its shoring.

Python Express Workshop- Basics of Python

programmingPython Express is an initiative and ongoing effort

by the It Python Software Society of India (PSSI).

aims to create an avenue for learning and

exploring the Python programming language and

community by acting as a bridge between

organizations interested in hosting a workshop,

students who want to learn, and experienced

Python programmers who are interested to teach.RITinLUG had invited the Python Express

members to conduct the workshop at RIT on 7th of

October 2017.The workshop was conducted by

six personalities from industry. The workshop

mainly focused on Basics of python programming.

Mr. Amol Kahat started the workshop with basics

of Python till evening. Our Alumni Mr. Nikhil

Kathole shared his experience about open source

contribution and how it helped him to achieve his

goal. More than 100 students attended the

program and got beneted. Students shared their

experience, like- Students are demanding more

workshops re la ted to Docker and Web

frameworks in Python like Django and Flask.

Open forum discussion on how to prepare to

get admission for PhD in South Korea”

Mechanical Engineering department and Global

Education & Exposure cell, RIT organized open

forum discussion on how to prepare to get

admission for Doctoral Program in South Korea

for F. Y. M. Tech Mechanical – Design students on th 25 Jan 2018. We invited Mr. Mahesh Shinde

Alumni of Mechanical Design (Batch 2017) as

invited speaker. Currently Mr. Mahesh Shinde

perusing his Doctoral Program from Yeungnam

University, South Korea. Prof. M. B. Mandle

felicitated Mr. Mahesh Shinde and allowed him for

his session. Mahesh started his speech with

importance of research paper publication in good

journals then he moved towards expectations of

supervisors in South Korea. He also discussed

how to write research paper for various journals

and opened recent areas for Ph.D. He discussed

around 45 min then interacted with students.

Students asked about Korean working, research

culture along with life in Seoul city. Prof. S. S.

Shirguppikar expressed vote of thanks. Dr. S. S.

Gawade and Prof. P. V. Gunjawate presented him

token of love on behalf of RIT. More than 40

students were attended program and gave

excellent feedback.

Docker 101 Workshop

Mr. Bhavin Gandhi (Intern Red Hat, Pune) Docker is the company driving the container

movement and the only container platform provider

to address every application across the hybrid

cloud. Today's businesses are under pressure to

digitally transform but are constrained by existing

applications and infrastructure while rationalizing

an increasingly diverse portfolio of clouds,

datacenters and application architectures. Docker Inc announced a program for education and

research called “Docker Student Developer Kit and

Campus Ambassador program ”, It's our moment

that Mr. Bhavin Gandhi from Final Year B.Tech had

selected as Campus Ambassador for Docker.

Docker company had sent Marketing materials to

motivate the students and conduct the workshop on

Docker fundamentals for students of SY, TY, and

Final Year B.Tech CSE and IT. Workshop was conducted by Mr. Bhavin Gandhi on

th27 Oct.2017 and more than 40 Students had

attended the program. He distributed the Docker T-

Shirts for participants.

From placement point of view, Department of

Electrical Engineering has organized guest lecture

of Mr. Virag Patil (Alumni of 2012- 2016 batch) on

the topics “Job opportunities for Electrical th Engineers”. The guest lecture was held on 31

January, 2018. Mr.Virag Patil is working as an Area

Facility Manager in Reliance Retail Ltd. Pune. This

lecture was organized for Third Y. B. Tech.

students.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) Exam is very

important to get admission in best of management

schools. Since many students are interested in

MBA studies after B. Tech., Department of

Electrical Engineering has organized guest lecture

of Mr. Shreyas Patil (Alumni of 2013- 2017 batch)

on the topics “Common Admission Test Exam

Preparation”. The aim of this lecture was to give

information related to CAT exam, syllabus and how

to prepare for this exam. The guest lecture was

held on 15th January, 2018. Mr.Shreyas Patil got

95.12 score in CAT-2017 exam.

Department of Electrical Engineering

Department of Electrical Engineering has

organized guest lecture of Mr. Shubham Jadhav

(Alumni of 2012- 2016 batch) on the topics

“Engineering Opportunities beyond Limelight”.

The motive beyond lecture was to give information

related to opportunities after completion of

engineering. The guest lecture was held on 12th

February, 2018. Mr.Shubham Jadhav Patil is now

pursuing his M. Tech. degree in Veermata Jijabai

Technological Institute, Mumbai.

Electrical Power sector is main sector of Electrical

Engineering from placement point of view.

Keeping this in mind Department of Electrical

Engineering has organized guest lecture of Mr.

Nilesh Patil (Alumni of 2004-2008 batch) on the

topics “Opportunities in Electrical Power Sector”

and “Reliance Energy Network at Mumbai”. The

guest lecture was held on 9thApril, 2018. Mr.

Nilesh Patil is working as Sr. Manager at Reliance

Infrastructure Ltd. Mumbai. This lecture was

organized for S.Y., T.Y. and Final Year B. Tech.

students.

Alumni Get-together at Pune

The Alumni Get-together started with the welcome of all alumni and faculty members. The meet was

organized at Institution of Engineers (India), Local Centre, Pune. The reason for organizing the meet at

Pune was to suit the requirements of vast number of Alumni who are working in and around Pune and

Mumbai region. The inaugural function was started at about 6:15 PM with the warm welcome of all the guests and

'Watering the Plant' activity by the honorable members on the dias. All the members gathered in the hall

enjoyed the video 'Glorious moments in RIT' & Institute Video CD.

This was followed by address of Mr. Nazir Shaikh. He highlighted the growth of RIT Alumni

Association and how it has played a vital role in the development of the institute. He also discussed how

the alumni of RIT have been successfully placed at important and high positions in the society. He

appealed to all present alumni to remain present for get-together and voluntarily contribute for the further

development of the institute by the means of Gratitude Fund and other forms of support to the institute

Dr. Sushma Kulkarni, Director, RIT, addressed the gathering. She highlighted the development

of the institute since its inception in 1983. She also added the recent achievements of RIT in different

rankings by various agencies and magazines. She then discussed about the new curriculum which has

been implemented in RIT from the current academic year. Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) as it is

called is a new initiative by RIT wherein a student can choose courses of his/her choice right from the rst

year of his/her studies in the institute. This gives the student exibility to select courses according to

his/her choice and also helps the student to set a carrier path. She also explained how the research

culture at RIT has developed over the years and RIT now has a number of patents which have been led

has increased over the past few years. She also added that how the gender ratio of students applying to

take admission in RIT has changed over the years. She highlighted the current achievements of RIT At

the end of her address, Dr. Mrs. Sushma Kulkarni appealed to the alumni to help the institute by

contributing in the growth and support to needy students through Alumni Gratitude Fund which now in

exempt under section 80(G) for income tax benets. The details of the same were shared with all the

present members.

Alumni Get-together at Pune

Hon. Shamrao Patil addressed the gathering and expressed his memories about the

development of the institute from the inception in 1983. He also appealed the alumni members to

contribute for the development of the institute.

Next, Hon. R. D. Sawant, Member, BOG, shared his views. He explained how the management

of the institute is pro-faculty and is always ready to help all students and the faculty members for their

development. He also stressed that although the management has helped a lot for the development of

the institute, now it's time for the alumni members to come forward and help its alma matter. Only then

there will be exponential growth of the institute.

. Now the forum was kept open for alumni members to share their views. Dr. S. M. Sawant

requested all the alumni members present to participate in the discussion openly.. The rst alumnus to speak was Mr. Swapnil, MBA, Alumni. He shared his views about the institute and

the golden days he spent in RIT. He also assured all faculty members about his support for providing

internship for nal year students to carry out their project work.

. Next, Mr. Sujit Lomate shared his views. He assured of his support for placement of the current

students as he has contacts of over 150 companies throught out India.

. Mr. Umesh Dhende, An alumnus of ENTC department said that he would help for internship and

also placement of the students. He is his himself an entrepreneur.

Mr. Atul Gujarati, alumnus of Automobile Engineering department also shared how he has been

constantly helping the department in placement and this year 5 students are working as interns at HDFC

Ergo General Insurance in Mumbai.

Mr. Yogesh Kamble share that he has already placed 10 students from MBA department. He

said he will continue supporting the institute. . Mrs. Vaishali Khadelkar, Automobile Engineering department's alumni shared that she helps

budding entrepreneurs for setting up of new businesses. Her rm Dasara foundation is centred in Pune

and local centres are also located at Kolhapur and Sangli. Dr. Magar Patil, who recently completed his Ph.D. from IIT, Bombay in Civil Engineering. He

expressed thanks all the the faculty members of R.I.T. and also suggested that all alumni should enroll

their wards in R.I.T. as there is tremendous opportunity for growth.

Alumni Get-together at Pune

After the open forum, all alumni from R.I.T. who have completed their Ph.D. recently were

honored by the Director, and guests on the podium. Their efforts were appreciated by all.

. After this, various alumni members from each department who have been constantly

supporting department were honored by awarding them with Prerna Puraskar 2018. The list of alumni

awarded as per department is as below:

Dr. S. S .Gawade delivered the vote of thanks to all the present members. Prof. Shirish S. Mane

hosted the program. For the successful arrangement of the program, Prof. P.V. Gunjavate, Prof. Y. M.

Patil, Prof. D.T. Mane, Prof. P. D. Bamane, Prof. Mrs. S. S. Patil, Prof. S. S. Karanjkar, Prof. Swapnil Patil
