24th October 2014: 8 people arrested in Latvia in match-fixing probe
• Four people from the Latvian champion FC Daugava Daugavpils (the club‘s president, technical director and two players) as well as four other people with "ties" to the club
• The allegations relate to a UEFA Champions League second qualifying round match in the 2013/14 season
Background
• FC Daugava Daugavpils arose from the merger of FC Daugava Daugavpils and FC Dinaburg who were eliminated from the league in 2007 for the first time due to suspicions of match-fixing
• After the 2008 season, FC Daugava Daugavpils merged with FC Dinaburg; the name FC Dinaburg was kept
• One year later, FC Dinaburg was subsequently eliminated from the Baltic League due to match-fixing and most of the players joined FC Daugava (Sportradar supported the Latvian Football Federation)
