POLLUTION CONTROL DRONE - INTRODUCTION

• The increasing air pollution of the big cities generated by industry, traffic and house heating represents one of the larger challenges that human being must confront in the twenty-first century, because it affects seriously to population´s health and life quality.

• In addition, it also affects to environment and buildings integrity and conservation.

• Air pollution is not homogeneous, geographically nor temporally.

• In consequence, it measurement and control require establishing a computerized network, automated and timeless of air quality monitoring throughout the entire city.

In this project, we propose drone as a primary air pollution levels measurement tool together or replacing the traditional land sensors, thanks to its:

• Versatility

• Mobility

• Programmable remote control

• Automated take-off, rout and land

• Low cost

• Exceptional relation among results/investment

POLLUTION CONTROL DRONE - PROPOSAL

• Drone has to fly overhead human’s population, as a result, this project requires a special commercial drone with a huge prestige, very reliable and secure.

• It has to be really cheap and it represents this dynamic and emerging technology:

• With 6 or 8 engines to increase the load capacity and redundancy in the case of an engine failure

• With GPS

• Automated take-off

• Itinerary and land

• Back to home in case of failure or low battery level

• Project will focus on complementing the selected commercial drone with an air pollution sensor, the electronic transmission of real-time information obtained and a number of secondary sensors measuring various meteorological and climatological parameters.

• The main sensor will perform continuous automatic quantification of the concentrations of the gaseous pollutants in the air during your flight itinerary: monoxide, carbon dioxide, ozone, nitrogen oxides, sulfur oxides and hydrocarbons, among other pollutants.

• The electronic transmission of real-time data collected to the monitoring station will allow simultaneous processing and treatment of information, increasing the speed and efficiency of the entire process.

• The GPS system (owned by the drone or a specific one) will serve to know exact coordinates of each measurement.

• Finally, the secondary sensors determine the meteorological and climatological parameters that influence the distribution of pollutant gases within the air

• Temperature,

• Wind speed and direction,

• Atmospheric pressure,

• Rainfall,

• Relative humidity,

• Solar radiation,

• etc.

and whose measurement is essential for the correct subsequent analysis of information and for obtaining correlations and coherent conclusions.

• This project could also lead to other possible drone applications, as

• The prevention of bioterrorism with harmful or lethal gases for health,

• Bioremediation by converting or removing gaseous pollutants from the air during flight and

• Analysis of water and soil samples, becoming a portable laboratory.
