Helping Your Child Deal With Stress Everyone is exposed to stress, but some of us manage it better. There are three main reasons for these differences: Our genes - Some people are naturally more sensitive to stress and some have more stress resistance.
Our environment - Having supportive people and comforting places where we can relax are key factors in how we manage stress.
Our coping strategies - Over time, we learn techniques that help us balance our reactions to stressors and recover from the effects of stress.
Can adults give children their stress? Children are very sensitive to their environments. If the situation around your child is highly charged, they will be affected. Part of the job of being a parent is to learn to monitor how much stress your child is exposed to. If you determine they had too much, help them manage it while looking for ways you can reduce it. Children also imitate the adults closest to them. Your child will adopt the behaviors you use to cope with stress. If you are yelling and crabby in response to changes or things you can’t control, you can expect your child to do the same. What to do with your child:
Help your child share their feelings by guiding the conversation
Be sympathetic and focus on the positive
Offer them time to rest
Maintain routines
Practice relaxation
Play - exercise is the best stress reducer
Help them understand that mistakes are fine - everyone makes them
Monitor your own stress, and seek help if needed

Cómo ayudar a su hijo lidiar con el estrés
Todos estamos expuestos al estrés, pero algunos lo manejan mejor que otros. Hay tres razones principales para estas diferencias: Nuestros genes - algunas personas son naturalmente más sensibles al estrés y otras tienen más
resistencia al estrés.
Nuestro entorno - tener personas que nos apoyan y lugares que nos ofrecen consuelo y nos ayudan a relajarnos son factores clave sobre como manejamos el estrés.
Nuestras estrategias para lidiar con el estrés - con el tiempo, aprendemos técnicas que nos ayudan a equilibrar nuestras reacciones a los factores de estrés y a recuperarnos de los efectos del estrés.
¿Pueden los adultos transmitirle su estrés a sus hijos? Los niños son muy sensibles a su entorno. Si la situación alrededor de su hijo esta muy cargada, su hijo se verá afectado. Parte de la responsabilidad de ser padres es aprender a controlar la cantidad de estrés a la que está expuesto su hijo. Si usted considera que es demasiado estrés, ayúdelo a manejar la situación mientras busca maneras de reducir el estrés. Los niños también imitan a los adultos más cercanos. Su hijo adoptará las conductas que usted usa para lidiar con el estrés. Si usted grita y se pone malhumorado como respuesta a los cambios o a las cosas que no puede controlar, es de esperar que su hijo haga lo mismo. Que puedes hacer con tu hijo:
Ayude a su hijo a compartir sus sentimientos al guiar la conversación
Sea comprensivo y concéntrese en lo positivo
Dele tiempo para descansar
Mantenga las rutinas
Practique la relajación
Juegue - El ejercicio es la mejor manera de reducir el estrés
Ayúdelo a entender que está bien cometer errores - todos los hacemos
Controle su propio estrés, y busque ayuda si es necesario
