Princess Leia

Leia Organa Solo (born Leia Amidala Skywalker) was at various stages of her life a

politician, revolutionary and Jedi Knight of the New Jedi Order. An accomplished Senator,

Leia was most famous for her strong leadership during the Galactic Civil War and other subsequent galactic conflicts, making her one of the galaxy's greatest heroes.

She had a forceful personality and bright intellect, having accomplished much in her

youth: she was a strong proponent for the Rebel Alliance, the youngest Senator ever of

the Galactic Empire at eighteen standard years of age, and a member of the Royal Family

of Alderaan. Years later, she was instrumental in the creation of the New Republic, and was elected to the position of Chief of State, serving twice in that office.

Part 1: Head

Hair buns

Our dear precious Leia has a very special hairdo. This is the first part of Leia we’re going

slightly thicker circle. If you want a more dramatic effect, fill the space between the

circles with stuffing.

At this stage, you can attach the safety eyes.

Next we’re going to stitch Leia’s lovely hair. To achieve a great look for your new

customer, Leia, divide the head into two sections, in the middle (use the eyes for

reference). Now start stitching with the brown yarn from the center to Leia’s ear from her

forehead to her neck. Ask Leia if she’s satisfied with the result. She knows best. Now

attach the hair buns you made earlier to Leia’s ears.

Give her a nice smile with red thread.

Round 15: * 1 sc in first 2 sts, decr* around (18)

Round 16: * 1 sc in first st, decr* around (12) Do NOT FO! Stuff Leia’s head.

Part 3: Arms

Arms, in white, make 2

The fun part about this amigurumi is that its arms have joints, so you can move Leia’s

arms around. This will prove helpful for when she walks into an army of whatevers.

You can chose how to make the joints. I work with a cotter pin or a safety eye, but you

can also thread wire through the arms and the body. I will explain how to use my

method. A little tutorial on how to use the other method can be found here:

http://nerdigurumi.com/2010/11/wiring-amigurumi-crochet-doll-limbs.html

Insert cotter pin or safety eye in space between round 2 and 3.

Round 9 *1 sc in first 3 sts, 2 sc in second st* around (15) FO, leaving a tail for stitching.

Attach arm to body using the pin or eye.

Stuff the arms lightly, sew the hands on the arms.

Now stuff Leia’s body. Don’t overstuff, as we’ll create a waste for her.

Now give Leia her beautiful silver belt. Try pulling it tight, so it creates a waste.

After all, Leia is a woman!
