A residential, team-based direct service program that provides full-time opportunities for young adults to serve their country and help communities meet compelling needs.

Teams Are Provided With:

Corps Members arrive in Sacramento, CA in October for a month of training, which includes:

• Program policies and expectations• Introduction to service learning• Team building • Diversity and conflict resolution

Corps Member Training

Each team has a Team Leader that works and lives with the team. Team leaders supervise the basic operations of the team:

• Administrative responsibilities and logistics• Overall accountability• Personal issues • Reporting requirements

Role of Team Leader

When are teams available? How do I apply to host a team?

• There are 3 project rounds• Projects may be as long as one

full round (Rounds are 6 – 13 weeks)• Can be as short as a couple weeks (split round)• Sponsors propose the length of time, but should fit within one of

our project rounds • Teams return to the NCCC campus in Sacramento between

projects for trainings, share what they learned on their project, and prepare for their next project

Project Length

• Round 1: Nov 6 – Dec 20• Round 2: Jan 10 – Apr 13• Round 3: Apr 23– July 21

Project Rounds - Class 26 (2019-20)

• Minimum of 40 hours of meaningful service, per team member, per week of service

• Address compelling community needs

• Detailed work plan (including inclement weather)

• Service learning opportunities

• Have a plan for sustaining accomplishments

Project Components

Sponsors must provide:• Orientation and

training• On-going technical

supervision• Tools and materials• Housing • Building permits or

waivers

Role of the Project Sponsor

• Churches• Community centers• Apartments• Houses• School rooms• Limited Camping

Other things to think about with housing:- Access to showers & kitchens- Moving during the round- Variety of facility options- Cleaning supplies, etc.

The Application Process

1. Submit Project Concept Form (PCF)

2. NCCC Campus will review PCF and notify you if you have been invited to submit a full application

3. Submit Full Application to the campus

4. NCCC Campus will review your application and notify you if your application has been approved and eligible for team assignment

Assistant Program Directors are available to assist you throughout the application process!

Application Process

- Sponsors will be notified if they will be receiving a team 4 weeks prior to the scheduled start of the project

- Projects must be within the project round, but can be shorter if needed

Round 1 November 4 –December 18 July 17, 2019

Round 2 January 9 – April 10 September 19, 2019

Round 3 April 21– July 17 January 8, 2020

• Full Application due date is about a month after the Concept Form date

• Full Application due date will be provided in the invitation to apply after Concept Form is approved
