English LO: To record key information using bullet points

Today we are going to be finding out about a famous explorer called Captain Cook! You may be wondering why he was so famous? Let’s find out.

Read through the Captain Cook PowerPoint on our class page.

What do you think of Captain Cook?

We’re now going to re-read through the PowerPoint and write down all the things that we think are really important. We will then use this information to write an information leaflet about Captain Cook. An information leaflet contains key information about a person, place or thing. We want our leaflet to be interesting to the reader and full of facts.

Re-read through the PowerPoint, recording the key bits of information that you think should go in our leaflet.

You may want to think about…Where was he born? What was his job?How did he become an explorer? What was the name of his ship?Where did he travel to?What did he discover? Why is he famous?

Page 3: Amazon Web Services  · Web viewBluebell Class – Home Learning. Topic – Land Ahoy. Term 6 – Week . 2 – Monday 8th June – Friday 12. th. June

Remember we are only writing bullet point answers so we don’t need to write full sentences.

Maths LO: To describe positionFirstly, go to the ‘Maths Position’ PowerPoint on our class page. You may want to play a preposition game yourself by choosing two items and placing them in different locations for the other person to describe eg the apple is above the bowl, the apple is beside the bowl.

Activity – Complete the activity sheet, remembering to read each question carefully. Then mark your answers. (These have been sent via email)

To keep your mind ticking over on the other areas of Maths we have covered, go to the Topmarks website for a range of fun games. Below are some suggested games, a few of which we have played in class.

LO: To learn about the importance of the Torah to Jewish people

In the Jewish religion they have a special book that they read from called the Torah. Jews believe that inside the Torah are the words from God which help them to know how they should live their lives, just like Christians who have the Bible.

The Torah is a very important book so it is kept safe in a place called an Ark and is wrapped in a velvet cloth. The word ‘Torah’ in Hebrew means instructions and rather than being a book it is rolled into a scroll. Jews start reading the Torah from the beginning to the end of each year, reading a different section each week. They then start again the following year.

Watch the video to find out more.

Activity – Make your own Torah Scroll. Can you make the mantel to cover the Torah and keep it safe? Write an important message you think should go inside.

Wellbeing Wednesday

Every Wednesday afternoon we’re going to have some ‘me’ time. This is a chance for us to slow down, take a breath and relax.

Here is a link to the relaxing music we listen to when the children come into class and during lessons. You’re welcome to choose your own relaxing music. Find a comfy place and sit quietly and just listen to the music. You may want to close your eyes or lay down. As you relax, breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Feel your tummy going in and out as you breathe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=857bt64SomQ
