14 REMEMBERING LEE KUAN YEW Reflecting on the life of an iconic leader On the second day of national mourning, crowds turned out in full force at tribute sites islandwide and penned condolence messages that expressed their respect for the nation’s founding Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Families came with children in tow, schools brought their students and companies their workers. After laying down their flowers and cards, they took a moment to look at the photos and films at the centres, reflecting on the life of Mr Lee. 1.
