NO AUGUST FRIDAY NOON MEETING – IT IS BEING
REPLACED WITH THE LOUISE DANIEL LUNCH ON AUGUST 22nd,
FRIDAY (See newsletter for more details)
Our new Board of Directors for 2014-2015 took office at the May Annual Meeting, and we have a few new faces and some old ones. Carolena Cogdill is the new Secretary (an elected office) and Jaylin Johnson has remained on the board in an advisory role for social media and marketing. She will also act as our historian. Laura Reyher and Freda Powell are also new Board members. The rest of us have agreed to serve in the positions we held in 2013-2014. We have added the new board listing in this issue of the newsletter. This is an exciting time for us as we prepare for the new programs to be presented throughout this year. Laura Reyher and Freda Powell have planned interesting speakers and presentations that will help our members develop their professional and networking skills. In the meantime, we’d like all of you to be thinking about noteworthy and accomplished women in the Amarillo area who would be good candidates for our Career and Lifetime Achievement Awards presented traditionally in early March. I wish you all an enjoyable summer, with enough time for relaxation and rest to last you the rest of the year! I look forward to seeing you at the AWN monthly meetings/luncheons. And, please don’t forget our celebration of the Women’s History in August with the Louise Daniels luncheon on August 22nd. Have a great summer!

Mass E—mail From AWN Website It is AWN’s policy that the organization will not send mass e-mail to the membership for anything other than AWN events or notices. This policy is in place for two purposes: (1) to keep down the amount of e-mail that is sent to the membership from AWN; (2) to keep down the amount of work it takes to do an e-mail to all members. The ability to send e-mail to the entire membership is only available to the Webmaster and the Membership Director. If we were to do a mass e-mailing for one event, we would be obligated to do this for every member and for every event.

A RESERVATION MADE IS A RESERVATION PAID—NOON MEETINGS REMINDER
Our policy is that we require all reservations made for AWN noon meetings be paid regardless
of whether or not you attend. This is because AWN must also pay the number of meals reserved
with the Amarillo Club, even if that number is more than the actual attendance.
While a reservation is not required to attend a meeting, we encourage and need our members
to reserve for meetings so that we can obtain a close estimate of the number of people that will be
attending in order to notify the club how many tables to set up. Reservations also allow us to give
our speakers an idea of how many handouts and materials might be required for a meeting.
We ask that you keep this policy in mind when you make reservations. Thank you for your
consideration.
