The Singing Loft was started after music industry veteran, Sherlyn Chia felt that there was a need for a vocal school that was focused on nothing else but on providing exemplary teaching and inspiring outstanding singing. Not one to pander to the conventional or play within the confines of what is safe, The Singing Loft is a reflection of Sherlyn’s personal convictions, with it being the dynamic vocal institution that it is-ever progressive and on the cutting edge. Holding firm to the belief that the heart of vocal teaching lies in imparting exemplary vocal technique, The Singing Loft adopts the Somatic Voicework™ pedagogy, with lessons personalized for each and every student because of the unique qualities found in every voice. Staying true to her beliefs has stood the vocal training institute in good stead, with significant milestones being achieved since its beginnings three years ago. This has included providing vocal lessons and training to over 500 students in varying music genres including Musical Theatre and Jazz, the establishment of an in-house Music Production and Audio Recording wing and the launch of the Loft Independent Artiste Program to equip talents with the tools they will need to produce their first EPs as well as to begin a future in Music. Beyond in-house coaching, The Singing Loft has been widely sought after as Vocal Coaching Partner and external trainer including the annual productions of local universities(SMU,NTU, NUS) and providing coaching to young talents(NYP, ITE). The Singing Loft has also provided song-writing, music production and music arrangement services to esteemed clientele that has included Music and Movement, McDonalds and Toy Factory Productions. Since her establishment, The Singing Loft has always believed in giving back and bettering the local community through singing. Over the last three years, her many community efforts have included working with and conducting workshops for youths at risk, sponsoring the classes of Underprivileged students, working with Persons with special needs and partnerships with Voluntary Welfare Organizations including Trybe and support for meaningful initiatives such as the Red Nose Campaign. !

Sherlyn has received training from some of the most internationally sought-after vocal instructors and voice specialists including Brett Manning (Nashville, USA, Contemporary Vocals), Jeannie LoVetri (New York, USA, Somatic Voicework™), Dr. Peak Woo (New York, USA, Otolaryngology: Speech and Singing disorders) and Lawrence Goldberg (USA, Musical Director for musicals like “Phantom Of The Opera”). Also a certified AMIS instructor registered with Ministry of Education and holder of a full certification in Somatic Voicework™ in CCM Pedagogy Music Conservatory (Level III from Shenandoah University) and Honors in Popular Vocals from London College of Music, Sherlyn has always been committed to creating the best vocal syllabus for the ever-changing needs of the industry. Coupled with her years of practical training, she is able to equip her students to be the best singers that they can be.

Sherlyn’s edgy teaching methods have produced outstanding students internationally. They include Golden Horse Best Actress Award Winner, Li Bing Bing�(�), Taiwanese singers Renee Chen ��#�, King One �" �(�, Regional Artiste By2, Cirque Du Soleil’s Erica Chen and Singapore’s Member of Parliament, Mr. Baey Yam Keng.

Beyond vocal coaching, Sherlyn also has an exciting performing career under her belt. She has lent her vocals to many well-known international singers as a back-up vocalist and has had the opportunity to collaborate with chart-topping pop artists such as Julia Peng �� JJ Lin Jun Jie ��and Sam Lee �� amongst many notable others.

As founder and director of The Singing Loft, Sherlyn leads the school forward with her determination to push the boundaries of music and to equip more vocalists with the essentials they need for vocal excellence.

Since the early days of her career as a school teacher, Jessica has always believed in dedicating the best of her time and efforts to help her students to become their best. Her desire to equip her students with the best techniques and skills has led her to go on to receive a Grade 8 Distinction in Popular Music Vocals, a full certificate in CCM Pedagogy Music Conservatory– Level III Certified Somatic Voicework™ (United States,Winchester) from Shenandoah University. She has also sharpened her skills by learning from industry veterans including Marcelle Gauvin (Jazz Vocal Styling Coach, Berklee, Boston, USA), Jeannie LoVetri (Somatic Voicework™ Vocal Trainer), Lawrence Goldberg (Broadway Vocals Trainer, New York, USA) among many notable others. With many years of experience as a concert backup vocalist under her belt, Yvonne has had opportunities to work with and sing for the concert tours of many Taiwanese artistes including '*� (Xiao Zhong) ��(Kang Kang)�� %,&� (Jacky Wu) �� +$-� (Genie Chuo) and� �� (Dai Ai Ling)�� Her passion and excellence has earned her much affirmation from the music industry. Certified by the London College of Music (Grade 8 certification in Popular Music Vocals), Yvonne is a vocal instructor who finds great satisfaction in building the confidence of her students by imparting a strong musical foundation to them and expanding their vocal ability. Yvonne’s jovial personality creates a fun learning environment for her students, and it has enabled her to share her knowledge, spread her love for music and help them enjoy singing like she does.


„ An infectious passion for singing that never fails to inspire.‰ !!Shirley’s music career took off in 2006 when she emerged as the winner in a singing competition at The Ark Music Café (��!). She went on to participate in numerous singing and song-writing competitions where her musical talents were greatly affirmed, including getting her original composition featured on Mediacorp’s album, “S-Pop”. Since then, Shirley has performed for notable engagements including Mediacorp Radio Station, Love 97.2FM’s Unplugged Live, Mediacorp Channel U’s�)��Music In The Air variety show, Red and White Flag for Resorts World Sentosa, and Rhapsody de Focus at the Esplanade. She has also been involved in providing vocal coaching for the finalists of Channel U’s Giant Hypermarket’s Star talent competition in 2011 and to schools including Nan Chiau Secondary School and Singapore Management University’s Music Interactive Club. Shirley’s commitment to her musical education (accreditation by the London School of Music and a Grade 8 distinction in Popular Music Vocals) has shaped her to be the effective vocal coach that she is.

Certified by the London College of Music with a Grade 8 in Popular Music Vocals, Zariah embraces her vocal training career with great commitment to impart essential skills to her students, who always leave their classes learning something new each week. The passion for connecting with others also motivates her to get involved in meaningful initiatives such as conducting workshops for children as well as enrichment classes for youths where she shares her knowledge and experience with them.

„Singing to inspire.‰ Regina’s love for singing began at the age of 7, when she discovered it to be her outlet of expression and joy. Her foray into music began with school performances and tertiary talent time competitions where she emerged winner in several of them. Since then, Regina has sung in local pop groups and is a familiar face in the performing scene as a singer known for her edgy vocals and unique spin on familiar hits that strike a chord with her audience. Beyond an exciting performing career that has spanned more than 11 years, Regina is passionate about empowering her students to shine and to find their unique sound as vocalists. A teacher to both children and adults, backup vocalists and novice singers alike, her affable personality has encouraged many to push their personal boundaries and to find confidence in embracing their unique talents.

„An unending pursuit of a passion for music.‰ Damien is an experienced vocalist, guitarist and percussionist, and has fronted local bands such as Rose Tinted Lenses, Raindogs, 7 Degrees and is the vocalist and guitarist of wedding band, Ebony & Ivory. With a performing career that has spanned more than a decade, Damien has performed at the Esplanade Library, Ark Cafe, Timbre, Vista Bistro, as well as various weddings and social events. His experiences have not only fuelled his passion for his craft but has also moved him to share them with others through vocal coaching. Accredited by the University of West London (LCM) in Vocal Music Performance and with over 5 years of professional vocal training, Damien believes that it is never too late to pursue one’s passion for music.

„An unparalleled commitment to her craft.‰ One of the most notable female Beatboxers and singers in the regional music scene, Yvonne’s passion for music has led her to exciting milestones in her career including being named the Female Champion at Illest Cypher and the Best Vocal Percussionist at the World Contemporary Acapella Competition 2014. Beyond performance accolades, Yvonne has collaborated with various corporate clients including Uber and has graced international stages in Malaysia and Taiwan. As a vocal instructor, Yvonne consistently proves her rigour in grooming exciting new talents in the industry. A teacher to students of all ages, she is greatly committed to equipping her students with the fundamentals of vocal technique and imparting all she has experienced as a performer and vocalist to them. „An industry veteran who is passionate about imparting his knowledge to others and breaking new frontiers.‰ !Since his completion of Film, Sound and Video studies, Jessel has gone on to become an accomplished musical director and guitarist. His many years of industry experience has made him adept in identifying a good tone, sound and rhythm and with determining exactly how it can be achieved. Beyond guitar coaching, Jessel has collaborated with local production companies, including Awakening Productions, charitable organizations and recording artistes including Eric Moo. A dexterous guitarist who emphasizes attention to detail, Jessel believes that outstanding guitarists are groomed through their committed practise of the right techniques. His dedication is motivated by his love of music and by watching his students grow in musicality and confidence despite them starting off with no musical background.

„NicoleÊs patience in expounding on both theories and practical keyboard techniques has equipped her students to become proficient players.‰ !With over 10 years of experience as a keyboardist and pianist, Nicole has received accreditation by ABRSM (DipABRSM), been an accompanist during children’s story-telling sessions and has conducted music workshops for youths. She is also an accomplished performer, recognized for her regular performances at weddings and various charity events. Her passion for connecting with others and experiences working with people of different age groups has equipped her to be versatile in the way she communicates and teaches her students. Nicole believes that the approach to mastery is in assimilating the right techniques and being disciplined in practicing one’s craft. Her acuity helps her students master their fundamentals and develop into confident musicians through a focused yet enjoyable learning environment that she is able to create.
