Alzheimer disease
pre senile dementia
Medics and philosophers of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome associated old age with mind weakening, and only in 1901 a German psychiatrist Alois Alzheimer noticed a sickness case that lately was named with his own name.
Alzheimer disease is a mental disorder
The main risk factor is the old age.
Disorder begins gradually, insensibly
And it’s progressing constantly.
"Tangles" of a protein called "tau" occur in Alzheimer's patients' brains-causing neurons to lose their function and increasing memory loss
Diagnostics:The clinical diagnosis is usually based on patient’s history (life anamnesis), his relatives life history and clinical observations (family anamnesis), taking in consideration typical neurological and neuropsychological features and excluding alternative diagnoses
Characteristics:4 development stagesPredementia- Memory loss- Tougher time carrying- Distracted attention
Early dementia- Progressing memory and motor skills
loss- Declining normal cognitive functions- Shrinking vocabulary
Moderate dementia- Loss of independency- Speech and reading disorder- Coordination disorder- Long-memory loss- Aggression and emotional lability
Advanced dementia- Full dependence on care- Hard speech degradation- Apathy and depletion- Basic motor skills loss
Diagnosis methodology.
There exist no drugs that can stop Alzheimer’s disease
But there’s still hope…
ConclusionsAlzheimer’s disease is very hard to be
diagnosed on early stagesThis means, most of humanity is in risk groupAlzheimer’s disease cannot be stopped, but it
can be struggled: this is why there still exist a lot of centers and funds conscripted to fight this illness
