This WeekMATHThis week we worked on subtracting three-digit numbers, regrouping, and subtracting across zeros. We learned a fun poem to help us remember how to subtract:
More on top?
No need to stop!
More on the floor?
Go next door.
Take one
and add ten more!
Numbers the same?
Zeros the game!
READINGThis we learned about ways to help us think about our thinking while we are reading. We learned a note taking system. When we read something we know we can mark a check, if we learn something new we write a plus, and if we have a question we write a question mark.
WRITINGThis we finished our Big Plan paper. On Friday we had a Big Plans Read-a-loud. We listened to School of Rock songs and then read our persuasive pieces. Next week we will begin writing biographies which will help us with our multi-genre project!
COMMUNITY PLAYGROUNDWe have begun our new science and social studies units. We are going to learn about physics and playground equipment to help us design a community playground. This week we drew a picture of a playground and wrote a business letter to the town council.
Students have big plans!
