the yearly Alumni News letter & instead give time to time News of College of Nursing and Wanless

1. COMMENCEMENT OF POST GRADUATE COURSE .... MASTERS OF SCIENCE IN NURSING

We are proud to announce that the M.Sc Nursing course started in Oct. 2012 with 5

students out of an intake of 15 per year ( 5 in each speciality )

Dr. (Mrs) S. M. Immanuel, was kind enough to brief the M.Sc.(N) students about the entire

course and also taught them Nursing Research classes.

3. NURSES DAY CELEBRATION :-

Nurses Day was celebrated on 11th May 2013. Mrs. H.W. Kadam introduced the Theme “Closing the

gap: Millennium Development Goals from evidence to action” Miss. Priya Ranbhise, 3rd Yr. Basic

B.Sc(N) student also spoke on theme. Students held competitions on Rangoli designs and essays.

W.H.O. Day was celebrated on 6th April

2013 in the Mother and Child Building. The

WHO theme for this year was “HIGH

BLOOD PRESSURE.” Dr. Nathaniel. S. Sase,

Director gave an inspiring speech to the

audience comprising of patients, their

relatives, allied staff, Administrators, Nursing

Staff and students.

by 1st Yr. RGNM students; Community Health

Nursing Models on National Rural Health,

Industrial Health& National Aids Control

Program was arranged by 3rd Yr. RGNM

students; Nutrition Exhibition was held by

1st Yr. Basic B.Sc.(N) group and Pediatric Poster display by 3rd/4th Basic B.Sc.(N) & 1st P.B.B.Sc.(N)

groups. A special Lecture on the theme was given by Dr. Ravikant Patil, HOD Cardiology. Later on a

movie was shown titled “Beautiful Heart” for the nursing students.

All models & posters were exhibited & judged and prizes were awarded to the best

presentations. The talents of the students & their hard work were appreciated by all.

4. INDEPENDENCE DAY :-

Cultural program

On the occasion of Independence day on 15/08/2013 the students from College of Nursing

performed a Cultural program which was enjoyed by all the Hospital Administrators and

Teaching faculty.

5. FRESHER‟S DAY CELEBRATION:-

On 2nd Sept.2013 the newly admitted students of 1st Yr. RGNM & 1st Yr. Basic B.Sc(N)

courses were warmly welcomed by the Director Dr. Nathniel S. Sase. The Managing

Committee members & friends from Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A. Dr. Richard & Mrs. Jean

Bedell attended the program.

6. TEACHER‟S DAY CELEBRATION:

Student Nurses Association celebrated Teacher‟s Day on 5th Sept. 2013. On that

auspicious occasion the students felicitated all teachers with flowers and gifts. A Food Fare

was arranged by students of College of Nursing and the sale proceeds went to the S.N.A.

fund.

7. LAMP LIGHTING CEREMONY:

Lamp Lighting Ceremony for 1st Year RGNM (35) & Basic B.Sc(N) (19) students was held on 2nd

Nov.2013 at 6:00 pm. Dr. N.S. Sase, Director gave the welcome address and Mrs. H.W. Kadam,

Principal introduced the Chief Guest Mr. David A. Kola Principal, SDM Institute of Nursing Sciences,

Dharwad. Mr. David A. Kola was the past graduate of College of Nursing, Wanless Hospital, Miraj.

He gave an encouraging key note address to the new student nurses

8. CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION:

Children‟s Day was celebrated by S.N.A. Unit of College of Nursing on 5th Dec. 2013 instead of 14th

November 2013. The 1st year P.B.B.Sc.(N) students gave a Health talk to the students of New English

School Miraj on Personal Hygiene through a Puppet Show.

9. EX-ALUMNI MEET AT KERALA:

A group of ex alumni members met at Changanasherry Kerala at Mr. Mathew Chacko‟s (Batch of 1958)

home along with the following 7 members of alumni, most of them working abroad and are Senior Citizens:

They had a joyous get – together where they shared their many experiences and remembered their good old

days at their alma mata.

The 45th Anniversary was celebrated on 16/11/2013. Mrs.

Sunanda M. Satralkar, M.Sc.(N) former Principal of J.G. Co

College of Nursing, Ghatapraba, Karnataka was the Chief Guest

for the function and gave a brief yet meaningful message to the

gathering. Mrs. S. M. Satralkar was the past graduate of our

College of Nursing and was the ex- Vice Principal too. Dr.

Nathaniel S. Sase, the Director gave the inaugural address. After

refreshments a Business meeting was conducted. Total Life

Members of the Alumni Association are 2031.

13. PAGEANT :

The students of the College of Nursing enacted a Christmas Pageant titled “DEV STUTI, SPHOTAK SHAKTI

“ on 19th Dec. 2013. The entire cast of young participants displayed their acting talents by truly depicting

that Praising God enhances one‟s Power. The nursing students comprising the choir rendered their sweet

voices through the beautiful spiritual songs after the various scenes.

Hospital one of the yearly attractions at this

party is the crowning of Miss. M.M.C. and we

were thrilled and happy that our 4th Year

crowned Miss. M.M.C. 2013. And our joy was

doubled when the 1st and 2nd Runners Up

On 21st December 2013 the Y.M.C.A. Miraj honoured Mrs.

Hilda. W. Kadam, M.Sc.(N), Principal College of Nursing,

Wanless Hospital with an Excellence Award for outstanding

achievement as a Nurse Administrator and Educator at the

hands of the Mayor of Sangli District.
