Labor and Liberal have stuffed it we want to it!fix

    Make public transport free.

Upgrade and extend the train and busnetwork including to areas currently notserviced.

Fully staff all train stations from the firstto last service.

Take public transport back into public

    ownership and operation.

Increase service frequency andintroduce 24-hour running.

Lay dual tracks from Laverton toNewport, including dual tracking atWestona, Altona and Seaholmestations, along Railway Parade andback to the main Werribee line.

    The Socialist Alliance says:

Implement a massive switch to large-

    scale water recycling and stormwaterharvesting.

Facilitate bulk schemes for solar-powered hot water systems, solarpanels and rainwater tanks to beinstalled on homes.

Provide green power alternatives suchas solar, wind and geothermal toreplace coal-fired power stations.

    Provide space for community gardens.

Stop new housing developments inGreen Wedge areas.

Launch a massive program to createlocal industries to make renewableenergy equipment and trains and buses, creating tens of thousands of local jobsin the western suburbs.

    The Socialist Alliance says:

    Social services

While Brumby wines and dines those with enoughmoney to buy his ear, Victorias public services are incrisis. Forty thousand Victorians await public housing, but our premier prioritises spending over $300 millionon tarting up the Melbourne tennis centre!

The ALPs love affair with privatisation has given hugesubsidies to big business through Public PrivatePartnerships (PPPs). As economics commentator,Kenneth Davidson points out, PPPs always end upcosting more than publicly funded projects.

    Age

Take electricity, gas and water back intopublic ownership and control.

    Properly funded hospitals, schools,

aged care facilities, childcare andcommunity centres.

Massively boost funding to public andcooperative housing.

    Phase out of poker machines.

    The Socialist Alliance says:

No state government use of federalanti-union laws against Victorianworkers.

No weakening of Workcover oroccupational health and safety laws.

    The Socialist Alliance says:

    Defend

    workersrights

    Climate change, water & jobcreation

Despite all the scientific evidence, Labor and Liberalrefuse to take urgent action to reduce greenhouse gasemissions. The global warming threat means allgovernments must work towards zero carbon emissions

rising sea levels will pose a real threat to Baysidesuburbs. We advocate an urgent shift to 100%renewable energy based on a massive green jobcreation program.

Labor also has failed to properly address the watercrisis. The $3 billion plus desalination plant and thenorth-south pipeline will create new environmentaldisasters, will massively increase utility bills and will donothing to reduce water use, especially by industry.

Public transportVictorians have been cheated out of a decent publictransport system for decades. The states shambolicpublic transport network is the predictable result ofLabors continuation of the former Liberalgovernments destruction of the public sector.

The latest disgrace is the Myki ticketingsystem a criminal waste of our money, which could

have been spent on urgently needed upgradesand extensions.
