Postsecondary Opportunities IndicatorWhat does the Postsecondary Opportunities Indicator measure?
How well we are preparing our students for life after high school based on the
percentage of students successfully participating in at least one opportunity including
internships, AP/IB coursework, dual/concurrent enrollment or Career and Technical
Education (CTE) coursework leading to certification.

Service Learning Course Guidance
■ Service Learning (2775) meets the ICAP requirement, but the course code does not count towards the Postsecondary Opportunities Indicator.

Internship Course Guidelines■ Internship programs can be paid or unpaid
■ Students must be juniors (2790 Internship I) or seniors
(2791 Internship II) to participate in internships
■ Maximum of 2 high school elective hours, of the 6 rigorous
course hours required per school day (2 hours include travel
to internship site)

Internship Course Guidelines (2)■ Semester course (may be repeated for Elective credit) - up
to 1 credit per semester (per class consistent with concurrent enrollment)
■ Schools should consider opportunities that align with a student’s ICAP and/or Transition Plan for students with disabilities, as well as, discussing items such as insurance and liability with potential employers.
