AltaVita Memory Care Centre is a locally-owned and family-oriented memory care community in Longmont, Colorado. Our community is comprised of secure, comfortable apartment suites for individuals who need and deserve special care due to memory related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias. �rough our comprehensive, careful, and kind approach, we seek to honor each individual who calls our community home.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

AltaVita Memory Care Centre was designed by a team of experts to address all the issues related to memory impairment illnesses in a comfortable, secure setting. Every aspect of our community, from design to activities to staff training, is carefully structured to create an enriching and secure environment for your loved one. �is approach begins with getting to know your loved one, learning about their past, their favorite activities, and their daily routine. �is cornerstone enables us to foster independence and assist our residents in a dignified, caring manner, while also supporting their desires, strengths and abilities. As a member of our family, we strive to involve you in every aspect of your loved one’s care, so that you may feel not just welcome, but genuinely happy with the care AltaVita provides.

AltaVita Memory Care Centre features four neighborhoods that allow for ample space to stroll or explore enclosed outdoor patios. A spacious interior courtyard rests at the heart of the community. This welcomes residents to enjoy the outdoors all year round while also providing warm, soothing natural light throughout the halls and common rooms.

AltaVita Memory Care Centre offers a number of suite plans to suit your loved one’s needs. Single bedroom suites include a private bath, while two-bedroom suites include a shared bath. �e 11-foot ceilings in all our suites create a spacious, airy and unrestricted atmosphere, while the large windows allow natural light to flow in. Rooms are carpeted for sound and comfort, and our modern heating and cooling system allows residents to adjust the temperature to maintain their personal level of comfort. Bathrooms include timeless decorative wall and floor tile, designer fixtures, and other well-appointed features that combine to create a comfortable, calming space. Safety is of the utmost importance to us at AltaVita Memory Care Centre, which is why every apartment has an easy to use call system to reach staff 24 hours a day. Residents are also free to access all common areas and their personal residences at all times.

A Quality Team

Our 24-hour staff is carefully selected and specially trained in the complexities of caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s dementia and other memory-related illnesses.

Housekeeping

At AltaVita, every resident will receive housekeeping services and all regular maintenance is performed by AltaVita.

Laundry Service

Linen and personal laundry services are provided weekly and each resident’s laundry is done individually in their own neighborhood laundry rooms.

Nutritious Dining

Our culinary team provides three nutritious, tasty meals each day designed especially to address the needs of individuals with memory-related illnesses. In addition, healthy snacks are available throughout the day.

Life-Enriching Programs

Our Life Enrichment team, with extensive experience working with and caring for those with memory-related illnesses, plans a full roster of daily activities designed to support individual strengths and histories and enhance quality of life seven days a week.

Health & Wellness

In addition to daily activities that promote health and wellness for residents, AltaVita also features an exercise and fitness space designed especially for older individuals.

Beauty/Barber Salon

When we look good, we feel good – it’s with that universal understanding that AltaVita offers regular salon services for every resident. �ese important services ensure your loved one has the opportunity to maintain their dignity and self-esteem by maintaining their own style and self-image.

Bistro and Ice Cream Parlor

At the heart of our community is our bistro and ice cream parlor, with rotating offerings to suit all tastes. Residents, family members and guests are encouraged to sit, relax, and share some treats while enjoying each others’ company.

Transportation Services

AltaVita staff are more than happy to arrange transportation for residents emergency and non-emergency needs.

Memory Boxes

AltaVita Memory Boxes are just one way we link your loved one’s past with the present. �ese beautifully crafted boxes are adorned with items, photos and memorabilia from each resident’s past, and are lovingly displayed outside their suite as a familiar reminder and personal expression of the individual.

PROGRAMS

Regular Comprehensive Assessments

Before your loved one arrives at their new apartment at AltaVita, we perform a thorough assessment to determine their needs and desires so that we may meet each one in an appropriate, respectful and supportive way. Every six months, or if your loved one’s condition changes, we will hold a reassessment to make sure every AltaVita resident’s needs are met at all times.

Medication Management

�e importance and value of having professional caregivers safely administer medications to an individual with memory-related problems is paramount at AltaVita. Our staff is responsible for organizing and administering each resident’s medications as prescribed by their physician.

Activities of Daily Living

Individuals with memory-related illnesses often require a special touch when it comes to helping them with the activities of daily living. Helping residents in a supportive, respectful way is a hallmark of care at AltaVita Memory Care Centre. With compassion and care, our highly trained staff assists residents with activities including incontinence management, bathing, dressing and meal assistance. We also offer hair and nail services, podiatry care, massage therapy and other services to gently minimize stress and maintain dignity.

Secure Environment

AltaVita Memory Care Centre was designed by experts in Alzheimer’s dementia and other memory-related illnesses to provide a warm, comfortable living environment that is both welcoming and completely secure. �e community is secure 24 hours a day, but designed specially to create a sense of independence and comfort through our unique “neighborhoods” and spaces within the community, beautiful natural light, and access to secure outdoor and private areas.

Adult Day Care

Caring for an individual with memory care issues at home can be challenging. Our adult day care program provides short-term relief for hardworking caregivers and offers individuals with memory related illnesses a new, engaging environment to visit several times a week. Program participants receive the same comprehensive care as our permanent residents. Transportation arrangements are available upon request.

Respite Care

AltaVita Memory Care Centre’s respite care program offers overnight stays for guests with memory-related illnesses so caregivers can attend to personal matters or simply enjoy a reprieve from the rigors of daily caregiving. Our safe, secure environment features highly trained professionals and structured memory care activities. �is provides peace of mind for caregivers, family members and loved ones.

LEADERSHIP

I am a Geriatric Psychiatrist and the full-time medical director at AltaVita Memory Care Centre. I am available on-site to provide high-level, individualized care plans for each resident. At AltaVita Memory Care Centre we focus on communicating regularly with residents, family members, and caregivers. I oversee staff training and ensure the latest strategies to implement care plans for each individual resident in our community. I started the Colorado Mood and Memory Clinic in 2003. Since that time, I have fallen in love with the community and the beauty of Colorado, and I am proud to call Longmont home. As my practice grew, I quickly realized the need for memory care support for my patients and their caregivers in the Front Range area. For many years, it has been a dream of mine to be part of an assisted living program that offers individualized care for each resident. We are all different and this fact does not change as we age.

We have hand picked some of the most talented individuals to be part of our team here at AltaVita Memory Care Centre to keep our residents stimulated physically and mentally. It’s never too late to implement changes for a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle which takes into account all aspects of the human mind and spirit.

I received my medical degree from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, and Geriatric Psychiatry training from Emory University in Atlanta. I operated a private practice at Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital, a division of Emory University Health Care System. I also acted as the medical director for the Partial Hospitalization Program at Wesley Woods Geriatric Hospital.
