ANZ rewards Myrtleford Tennis Club KIDS from the Myrtleford

Lawn Tennis Club were able to experience a day at the 2019 Australian Open thanks to ANZ.

The club is part of the ANZ Tennis Hot Shots Community Play program which is delivered across Australia to make tennis more accessible for children liv-ing in regional areas.

Each year, ANZ invites Com-munity Play clubs from regional Victoria to attend the Australian Open, which includes ground passes and travel costs.

This year it was very popu-lar amongst Myrtleford families with a packed bus leaving town at 5.30am last Thursday morning.

ANZ have also supported the Myrtleford Lawn Tennis Club this year through their Home Loan Introducer Program.

Club members from Myrtl-eford Lawn Tennis Club had the chance to meet ANZ tennis ambassador Dylan Alcott when they arrived at Melbourne Park.

MYRTLEFORD BOWLS CLUB NOTESAfter last week’s matches being can-

celled because of high temperatures, Ovens & Murray Bowls fixtures resumed on Saturday, with all three of the Myrtl-eford Weekend Pennant teams playing at home.

It was not a good day for the home sides however, with all divisions being beaten.

Division A2 went down to Rutherglen after scoring only 88 shots to the visitors 101.

Laurie McDonald was the only win-ning skip for Myrtleford.

Division A4 were narrowly defeated by Swanpool who won with 103 shots to Myrtleford’s 97

Myrtleford’s Sam Bonacci leading his side to a rink win once again.

Division B3 suffered yet another de-feat, going down this week to Beech-worth, scoring 59 shots to the Visitors 67.

Ian Rawlings side were unable to get the home team over the line de-spite winning their rink with a 17 shot margin.

With the high temperatures forecast for the coming week, there is a strong possibility that the next round of matches may again be called off.

BIG DAY: Kids from the Myrtleford and Chiltern tennis clubs at Melbourne Park last week. A packed bus left Myrtleford at 5.30am courtesy of ANZ and their Hot Shots Community Play program.
