Central University of Karnataka, Chairperson, Dr. Ananda Amritmahal, Principal, Sophia
College for Women, Mumbai, Member Co–ordinator and Professor Sharanjit Singh
Dhillon, Registrar, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Member visited Arya Kanya
Degree College on 26th, 27th and 28th November 2015 to assess the quality of higher
education being imparted to the students at our institution. The exercise was undoubtedly
a beneficial one because all the experts were experienced and therefore were in a position
to understand our weaknesses and strengths easily and interact gainfully. The visit took
place after we had done months of spade work, collected and analyzed data as required
through a team effort comprising of the college staff. It is this hind sight which is based
on facts and data which makes us in greater control of our present and future, at least we
know where and what we need to do with our given resources. Abstractions have
disappeared and a concrete reality has taken shape before us – the challenges now appear
to be very tangible. We had several rounds of discussions with members of the NAAC
team, both formally and informally. The discussions were undoubtedly meaningful
because the panel of experts had brought along with them experiences of their respective
institutions. They closely inspected every nook and corner of the College and carried out
academic and financial audit of our College.
ARYA KANYA DEGREE COLLEGE, ALLAHABAD Page 16

National Service Scheme (NSS)
Youth is the powerhouse of the nation. They are full of energy and enthusiasm which needs to be channeled in the right direction for the right purposes so that their talent and potential can be used for the betterment of the society and country. For this very purpose, our government laid the foundation of the National Service Scheme.
A seven day camp was organized by Arya Kanya Degree College, for three units of NSS from 17.12.2015 to 23.12.2015. It was held in the premises of Kamla Nehru Electro Homeopathic Institute and 150 NSS volunteers took part . In a country like India social ills like female foeticide has crept into the society and threaten the very existence of girl child. Therfore, this year the theme of the camp was “Beti bachao beti padhao” and all activities and programs were centered around it.
On 17th December, like previous years, the camp started with a Hawan by Dr. Sudha Singh, Associate Professor, Ancient History Department . For the present as well as future physical well being of the students, Yoga training was imparted daily to them by Shri Bajrang Dwivedi. The same day after lunch Shri Abhinav Kushwaha, faculty UPTEC, gave a lecture on “Computer and their Importance”.
On 18th and 19th December, Shri Ashish Singh, a national level sports player, taught Kho Kho to the girls and also conducted two matches for them. Games and Sports not only entertained the students but also energized and motivated them.Self Defence is a must for women in today’s society. Women must know the basic methods of self defence for which the NSS students were everyday trained in martial arts by Kaushiki Pandey and Kamini Dwivedi (Blue Belt Holders).

7.6 Any other relevant information the institution wishes to add (for example SWOT Analysis)
S.W.O.T Analysis
Strengths: -
1) Feedback from parents strengthens teacher-student bonding.
2) Books are issued to students regularly.3) Dedication and commitment of the teaching and non-teaching staff paves the way for
the better development of our institution and thrives to revoke it’s prestige.4) The faculty under visionary and able leadership of the Principal feels pride in the
efficacy of good human relationship and a coherent team work.5) A committed and well qualified teaching body.
6) We effectively promote the students participation and achievement of desired targets in the fields of co-curricular activities.
7) Our College provides a ragging free campus.8) Wifi Campus.
9) Strongly motivated students- many are first generation learners.
Weakness:-
(i) We have no control over appointing our teachers on regular posts and for this
we have to depend on the parent body i.e. Allahabad University.(ii) We have not been entrusted with an open arm in designing our curriculum.
Opportunities:-
(i) We have proved ourselves exemplary in running the under-graduate classes despite all the impediments and constraints. Yet we are keen to start P.G.
classes if the opportunity is given.(ii) The College should generate more funds from external organization for
promoting student activities.(iii) Keeping pace with modern developments in teaching and research.

√
(iv) Maximizing the potential of staff and students for optimum growth of the
College.
Threats:-
(i) The shortage of faculty members make the objectives of academic excellence a
little rigorous and difficult yet our spirit is not dampened. Our faculty members are continuously asked to make progress and thrive for still higher academic
goals defying all the odds. (ii) Vacant seats can damage the functioning of the College.
8. Plans of institution for next year: -
The plan which the College administration moots for the future development is the expansion of the library facility in the shape of a separate C.D. section in the library to make
it more user friendly.
Long term and short term courses which are job-oriented are also being envisaged. We
have expanded our existing office accommodation and the Principal’s room apart from proposing to courses in Fashion Designing and Journalism.
