Lunch Right after driving through the Dragon Slayer and making a quick stop at the Dragon

Slayer Welcome Center, we will have lunch at Hoagie Shop, where they will have an item on their menu named specially for us – including sourkraüt in its recipe ;-). For those who are not comfortable eating inside and prefer to pack your lunch, the restaurant will let us use their outdoor seating area while others can use the indoor tables (how nice is that?). They will also reserve the restaurant’s front row parking just to our club. Oh! That’s not all... we will get FREE ICE-CREAM!!!

Erik will also arrange a photographer to click us as we drive through the mountain and a local news station will be there to check on us and we will have an opportunity to make our beautiful cars make to the local news. We will have full Town and County support to drive through their roads!

The Dragon Slayer team are having an empty stocking fund drive for the many kids that won’t get toys for Christmas. Please bring a Toy if you want to help a child getting something for Christmas this year.

Before I forgot, eat light because the fun is just starting... we will drive through beautiful curvy roads after that.

AFTER LUNCH DRIVE: We will drive through the Laidens Trail (aka The Road), nested in the Pine Mountains,

with a lot of influence from the British’s but kept with American’s heart. Don’t let this 6-mile road fool you! Lots of sharp curves and scenic views ans you climb through it!

From Laidens Trail, we will drive 18 miles on Hwy 510. With long straights and some nice curves, this road reminds me the stretch between the Shady Valley and the Backbone Rock Campground. We will reach then the Kingdom Come State Park (restroom stop if needed, otherwise we will continue driving).

We will take the Hwy 1679 and drive the Little Shepard Trail for 14 miles... That’s a very narrow road surrounded by nature. It is as narrow as that road we drove in August on our Roan Mountain drive (Ripshin Mountain Rd). Don’t trust me? Here is a video of Little Sheppard Trail: https://youtu.be/nuyfOWmevBI

When Little Sheppard Trail ends, we will turn right at US-119 and left at Hwy-932 and continue snaking through infinite twists at the KY side and then we will reach Norton, VA.

From Norton, VA, we will drive our way back to Tri-Cities and end the drive at East Coast Wings (198 Marketplace Blvd, Johnson City, TN) where the Nightshift Garage will be hosting a Trunk or Treat & Car Show (more details below). The East Coast Wings also makes a good opportunity to some food and adult beverage for those who will not be driving.

Trunk or Treat at East Coast Wings by Nightshift Garage (not a PCA event or sponsored by PCA. PCA insurance doesn’t apply.) It’s that time of year again!!! As many of you know every year I work with several charities during Halloween and every year that list grows. This year has definitely presented its set of challenges with COVID and I am sure it will be a big issue trying to help children this Halloween. We have gone back and forth several times on whether or not we were going to do anything at all this year… Events such as St Jude’s trunk or treat and Niswonger’s spooky trail are the big ones I am most concerned about because they bring smiles to so many children. Last year I teamed up with Halloween Express and we were able to provide costumes for children in need. We were able to go door to door at Niswonger Children’s hospital dressed as superhero’s and hand out costumes and candy to those children that were sick and therefore could not leave the hospital and go trick or treating. I have been doing this for a few years now and while it can be extremely emotional at times it brings so much joy to your heart to be able to help children and see them smile. This year I am teaming up with Halloween Express and The Dam Haunted Woods and we will be holding two separate events on Halloween day. The Dam Haunted Woods will open at 4pm for kids to walk through the attraction and trick or treat (suitable for all ages as they do not open until that evening). Then from 6:30-9:30pm we will be doing a “Trunk or Treat” at East Coast Wings / Kohls parking lot in Johnson City, TN. Supporting a good cause As you know we have raised a lot of money over the years for children in need and this time is no different. I have chosen Isaiah 1:17 House as the primary beneficiary because their story and mission is so important to me. This year will be the same format as last year and we will be accepting costumes (new in box/wrapper only) or money donations. If you prefer to donate costumes please do so before Halloween. We usually get requests for ages 6-13 but will accept anything you would like to donate. We will have a booth setup to collect money donations at the events. Please message me about donations separately or feel free to click on the link below if you would like to donate directly to Isaiah117 house.

Our Purpose When children are removed from their homes out of concern for their welfare, they are usually brought to the Department of Children’s Services Offices to await placement with a foster family. This wait can be several hours to nearly a full day. These children often have nothing with them and are scared, lonely, hungry, and in dirty clothing. Isaiah 117 provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait – a place that is safe with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need while DCS staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good foster placement. Donations https://isaiah117house.com/donate
