To: All World History Students & Parents Re: Student Assignment Sheet and Notebooks Guidelines Starting in the fall semester, I will require all of my students to fill out a Student Assignments Sheet based on the assignments done in class and at home. This assignment sheet will accomplish the following objectives: To keep track of student assignment due dates. To keep track of student assignments in-progress and assignments completed. To help students to better organize their classwork, work, reports and individual activities by date in their folders. To help parents to verify assignments due dates, in-progress and points completed by signing their initials next to the points obtained column. To serve as a table of contents for their history notebook The Student Assignments Sheet should be kept in the student’s notebook at all times . All work must be put in chronological order. The Assignment sheets need to be kept in plastic sheet protectors. I will collect the notebook once every semester. It may be stored at home in a folder or large file envelope after each chapter is completed. It must be organized in the same order as listed in the Student Assignments Sheet. I will give students at least 10 days notice when their notebook will be collected. I will also notify parents by email through my Teacher Web website. If the student does not have the notebook on the day that he/she is called, the student may still bring in their notebooks for a late grade that will be lower. This history notebook can be worth up to 50 points each semester. The notebook grade is very important in this class. It reflects all student assignments for that period of time and will help to determine a grade for assignments habits (E-U). Those students who do not bring their folders will have a Fail or “0” points (which will be averaged in with their other academic grades) and a U in work habits for that period’s grade report. All student notebooks and Assignment Sheets should include the following assignments: Students will be graded on the neatness and organization of their notebooks. With your help, keeping track of the student assignments completed will be reflected in an improved semester grades for all students. Sincerely, B.
