Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults: Adult preparation for the Sacrament of

Initiation. If you know of anyone who might be interested in inquiring about the

Catholic Faith, call the parish office or Maureen Dillon at (570) 779-9874.

Classes are generally held on Sunday mornings after the 8:30 AM Mass.

Baptism of Infants: Parents requesting Baptism for their children should make

an appointment with the Pastor to begin the process. The months of preparation

before the birth of a child are the appropriate time to plan for the Sacrament.

Catholic Marriage: Diocesan Policy states that those considering celebrating

the Sacrament of Marriage must meet with the pastor at least six months before

any desired wedding date. Please call the office to schedule an appointment with

the Pastor.

Communion for the Homebound: We invite homebound parishioners who

wish to receive Holy Communion to call the office.

Hospital Visitation: Please notify the Parish Office if you or a loved one is

hospitalized as the hospital no longer notifies the parish. If a patient would like

to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation or Anointing of the Sick or if he or

she would just like a visit, please call the office to make arrangements.

Holy Spirit, God Forever and ever. Amen.

GIVING A MEMORIAL GIFT TO YOUR PARISH WHEN THERE IS A DEATH OF A

LOVED ONE AND MAKING YOUR WILL: Have you ever considered giving a monetary gift

to your parish in memory of a deceased loved one at the time of death or later on? It’s a beautiful

expression of love for both the person who died and your parish. We always need money to enable

us to continue to accomplish the mission of Jesus and for the general upkeep of our parish

properties. Please consider this unique expression of giving in lieu of flowers, Mass cards and other

expressions. When making your Will, remember All Saints Parish & the good that can come

because of the legacy you leave your parish. Monetary donations would be gratefully appreciated if

made to the Parish Building Fund, The Christian Service Center, Parish Cemeteries or All Saints

Catholic School Education Fund, to be used by a family or families who need assistance with

sending their child to a Catholic School. Thank you.

STATEMENT BY BISHOP BAMBERA

REGARDING TRAGIC SHOOTINGS

IN ORLANDO

The senseless violence that has invaded our world all too often in recent years yet again confronted

us in the early hours of Sunday morning, June 12, with the slaughter of scores of innocent people in

Orlando, Florida. I first heard of the tragic news shortly after my airplane landed in southern

California, where I was about to begin a week of meetings of the U.S. Conference of Catholic

Bishops. Needless to say, as with so many of you, I have been consumed with this tragedy. It is

beyond imagining and well beyond what should be expected in a civilized nation like our own.

As an act of terrorism, the Orlando shootings have created for us as Americans an uneasy solidarity

with suffering souls in our own land and in far too many places around the world. This act, like so

many others, defies logic, generates fear and causes us to question if there can ever be a place of

true security and peace for ourselves and the entire global community.

As an act of hatred, the massacre in Orlando sadly reminds us of the worst consequences of

discrimination and prejudice, even while the precise motives of the perpetrator of these shootings

are still being analyzed and may never be fully known. Every human life unequivocally deserves to

be treated with respect and dignity, including those members of the LGBT community who were so

barbarically killed. Our faith demands that we denounce hatred and never single out an individual

or group as in any way less deserving than others of human respect, regardless of who they are,

what they believe or how they choose to live their lives.

This tragedy has brought us to a new moment of awareness in our lives. Most immediately, it calls

every person to combat more vigorously than ever the anti-gay prejudice that exists within our

country and even, sadly, among some people of faith and members of our own Church. And in this

era fraught with division and anger, the sad events that unfolded in Orlando challenge us as a nation

to resolve to treat every woman and man – regardless of sexual orientation or identity, religion, race

or country of origin – with equal dignity and respect.

In his remarks on the tragedy, Pope Francis said, “We all hope that ways may be found, as soon as

possible, to effectively identify and contrast the causes of such terrible and absurd violence which

so deeply upsets the desire for peace of the American people and of the whole of humanity.” There

is no doubt in my mind that this hope of Pope Francis reflects the prayers that flow from my heart

and yours.

As a nation, may we finally begin to set aside our differences and work together to eradicate

violence, doing all that we can to create a culture of peace. … As a people of good will, may we

tear down walls that divide us and truly recognize one another as brothers and sisters. … And as

Christians, may we join our prayers with those of countless numbers of faith-filled people from

around our world for the sake of the victims, their families and friends, first responders and all

those affected by this senseless tragedy.

All Saints Parish Worship Committee Minutes

Worship Committee – June 7, 2016 o Attending: Fr Jacek, Mary Burns, Rosemary Coates, Helen Nowak Gabriel, Jan Gabriel, Jackie Karnes, Doreen

Kolojechick, Pat Merman, Kathleen Narcum, John Sipper Sr., Fred Weaver

1. OPENING PRAYER- led by Chairperson Jan Gabriel 2. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING – accepted as written

3. CURRENT ISSUES/UPDATES

a. Ministry of Music – Jan Gabriel for Bill Loyack i. noted that choir did re-group for Pentecost service and sang together at 8:30 mass. Choir will continue to provide group

effort for selected church holidays in the future. ii. mention made to possibly do more recruiting during a Donut Sunday.

b. Art & Environment- Helen Nowak Gabriel i. Called out that we are now in church’s season of “ordinary time” and that décor should be simple & green.

May continue to use floral bouquets from funerals if they fit the season and are appropriate. But for most part the “green” theme will prevail.

ii. Discussed potential for adjusting the side-statues, as favorable comments made to placement of statue of Mary ion front of church for month of May. It was decided by group vote that the statue of Mary will remain in the front (on ambo side) and that the St. Joseph statue will be placed in front on the other (cantor) side of church. Statues to replace Mary & Joseph on the sides will be St. Patrick and St Theresa of the Little Flower.

iii. Mention made of temperature in church being too cold last couple of weeks and Fr Jacek indicated that it has been corrected.

iv. Mention made of security measures at church and that maybe we should implement a camera/recorder system. Fr Jacek thought that this would be too expensive based on his previous experience, but that new security measures have been/will continue to be implemented (i.e. new keys, new guidelines for what doors to be locked, etc.)

c. Service Ministries: i. Altar Servers- John Sipper Sr. for John Jr. -- Father mentioned that new altar server training will be conducted for all CCD

classes. ii. Eucharistic Ministers – Rosemary Coates -- 11am mass is in need of ministers. Kathy Narcum helping out. iii. Lectors – Mary Burns -- All going well with scheduling of Lectors. iv. Ushers/Greeters – John Sr. --New procedure being used for the process of “presentation of the gifts” part of mass to be

used by all ushers as specified by Fr Jacek.

4. OLD BUSINESS/PREVIOUSLY DISCUSSED a. There have been instances of “unauthorized” people (even minors) entering the altar area (kids blowing out candles) and the

sacristy. This continues to be a problem, even to the extent that minors are washing/rinsing vessels used at mass. Fr. indicated that this needs to be better controlled. Instructional signs are now up in the sacristy.

b. Pictures from main liturgical holidays will be posted to parish website. We will use a main camera for consistency. Helen Gabriel to provide picture-taking and will get images to John Sipper Jr for publishing on website. John Sr will be back-up

5. NEW ITEMS a. There will be a CLEAN OUT DAY sometime in next couple of months. The “memory room” will be cleared-out, the adjacent

closet cleaned/tidied, and the items in the rectory moved out and into one of these areas in the church basement. All of the liturgical seasons should have designated areas for those particular decorations/adornments. June 21 set as day to preview the church grounds for potential items to be discarded. A sub-committee lead by Fr Jacek will view the rectory, church, and school grounds for the items to be discarded and then plan for a day-of-disposal. Will need volunteers to assist.

b. Fr Jacek mentioned that all graduates from the parish will be given a New Catholic Bible at the graduation mass service in June. There will be a few extra copies ordered if anyone is interested in purchasing one.

c. Next meeting -- September 6 @ 7PM in church rectory. Have a great summer. Thank you all for your dedication to this committee!
