FORWARD COLLISION MITIGATION¶

Applies brakes to prevent or soften low-speed impact with preceding vehicle.

Using advanced radar technology, the 2014 Outlander keeps a close eye on the road by precisely measuring your vehicle’s position in relation to others in front of you. So, if a vehicle ahead is detected, the Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM)¶ system will alert you of possible frontal collisions. And just like your old driving instructor, it’ll even apply the brakes for you if necessary.

Using an onboard camera, the 2014 Outlander’s new Lane Departure Warning (LDW)§ system will alert you both visually and audibly if it sees you’re drifting out of your lane. It’s kind of like the robotic back seat driver you’d always hoped for.

With three different distance settings, the 2014 Outlander’s Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)‡ system uses radar technology to assess the distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Which means you can easily maintain your preferred bubble of personal space without making your feet do any of the thinking.
