SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT ASPECTS OF PRODUCTION PROCESSES

3.4.1. Windows is not working properly

Windows contains files that can sometimes become damaged orcorrupted. When this happens, it will cause problemsin your computer.

    Possible reasons are:

The computer is not properly shut down by the last user

There was a sudden shutdown caused by an inconsistent supply

    of electricity

A computer hardware such as video card is not compatible withwindows or software or driver for that device is malfunctioning

A software threats may pose another risk

    Tripping- unorganized wires and cords

Power overloads-plugging in so many appliances in the sameoutlet at the same time, wires could become so hot that cancause fire

Physical injuries, resulting to poor sitting posture, poor typingtechniques, working long hours without breaks

    Overheating

    3.4.2. Computing safety

Always follow steps in proper shutting down a computer.

See to it that you checked and unplugged power cord to walloutlet.

Use surge protectors or UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) if youhave inconsistent supply of electricity. These will help if theres apower failure. UPS can give you much enough time to save andshut down properly your computer.

Organize and lay out wires and add some cable wrap, cable turtleor a wire loom which lets you bundle all your cords into one neatspot.

Know the maximum amperes of electricity safely. Dont plug somany appliances into same outlet at the same time

Keep your computer in a clean well-ventilated area.

Dont block the air vents on your monitor by piling papers orbooks on top of it.

Most fans are on the back of the computer, so position thecomputer a few inches from the wall.

Open the computer case once or twice a year and use a computer

vacuum or can of compressed air to clean out build up dust anddebris.
