Project Goal: Use a webcam to detect moving objects and warn users via e-mail and text when moving is detected, all by attaching a webcam and infrared sensor to a Raspberry Pi
Project Motivation:
The lack of a cheap security system that could alert users about a possible intrusion in their houses or offices led us start thinking about creating a system that could do just that. We ultimately decided in a Webcam attached to a Raspberry Pi that could ultimately alert the user and send him a picture of the intrusion.

How does it Work?
The webcam is in constant communication with the Raspberry Pi. When the webcam detects a motion, it immediately sends this to the Raspberry Pi which itself triggers the camera to take the picture then sends an e-mail and text message to the user with the picture attached to warn him about the intrusion.
That is cool! But, is this feasible? We currently have made a lot of progress. As you can see in Figure 2, they are directly taken from an e-mail sent by the Raspberry Pi. There are still some things to work out, but it is coming together!
