Seventy-two years of ministry onSt. Simons, in Glynn County, andout in the world. What a great joyit was to honor that history andlook forward to the future whilecelebrating our 72nd ChurchAnniversary this past weekend.In addition to enjoying fellowshiparound shared meals (yes,“meals” plural), we were inspiredto deeper faith by the teachingand preaching of Rev. Dr. JillDuffield and came together forour largest Day of Service ever with nearly ninety-five people serving at thechurch and in the community. It was a weekend full of reminders that whatmakes a church achurch is the people within and the life we are called to. Thank you to all whoworked so hard to make this weekend such a success!

We also welcomed six new members into the life and faith of St. SimonsPresbyterian this past Sunday. You can find their pictures and names below –please be sure to welcome these new friends in faith as you see them aroundthe church and around town. Lastly, a very special congratulations to ourchildren’s music director, Phoebe Shelton, who was named “Teacher of theYear” at Frederica Academy yesterday. Congratulations Phoebe!

MUSICAL NOTESLast week’s celebration of our 72 nd Anniversary resulted in lots of service inthe community, a facelift and clean up of the church, and the gathering of ourchurch family in worship and in fellowship to commemorate this specialoccasion. While cleaning out the attic in the Music Attic (above the kitchen),we came across lots of old bulletins, newsletters, directories, and evenfinancial records. It’s time to update our history as we draw closer to 75 yearsof ministry on this island and beyond. I would like to form a task force to helpgather our history, tell our stories, and work on ways to preserve our past, sothat we can confidently look to the future. This task force can be made up ofthose who are long time members, those who have technical and computerskills to help gather and record information, those with experience in this field(i.e. historians), and those that are very interested in a project like this. If thechurch has had a historian in the past, would someone let me know? Iappreciate all comments and advice. We can begin meeting after theChristmas season. Let the fun begin!

Thank you to Youth Ensemble members for some lovely singing with theChancel Choir last Sunday morning: Ami Bishop, Kerrigan Hamill, MargaretErnst, Margaret Spiers, and Brooke Zell. Kate Head and Kate McMinn, alsopart of this group, were out of town. Any and all youth 6 th -12 th grade are

welcome to come at 5:00 pm on Sunday evenings to join us.

This Sunday at the 11:00 am service, the Chancel Choir will sing TheMajesty and Glory of Your Name by Tom Fettke and Linda Lee Johnson.The words quote the Old Testament reading for the morning. Service musicwill be from the tradition of different countries. Suzanne Morrison hasdecorated our retable with breads and cloths of the world for this WorldCommunion Sunday.

Youth that are interested are encouraged to meet Frieda Warner nearthe usher’s room at about 10:45 to get instructions about carrying thecommunion elements in a procession down the aisle for the 11:00 amservice. Participate in this annual tradition!
