All About Venice

Venice is built on 118 small islands in a lagoon and has canals instead of roads.

There are no cars in the centre of Venice, travel is only by boat. The famous, yet funny shaped, boat is called a “gondola”.

Venice has lots of very impressive bridges.

There are nearly 400 bridges crossing the canals. This one is called The Rialto Bridge.

Every year Venice holds a carnival which starts 40 days before Easter and ends on Shrove Tuesday.
