Program AgendaA revolutionary population health transformation program is here.

Since the passage of the Affordable Care Act, leaders of hospitals and health systems have been engaged in a race against time to bring fundamental changes to the way their organizations do business. Today’s healthcare strategies are no longer about filling beds and conducting numerous procedures; they are about keeping populations healthy and out of the hospital while continuing to drive profitability.

Because of this movement, The Governance Institute in partnership with Stakeholder Health, and the Public Health Institute (PHI), and with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is implementing a national strategy to accelerate population health capacity among health systems. This strategy will be developed through cohorts, each consisting of intensive collaborative retreats, Webinars, and one-on-one coaching for senior leaders and selected board members of hospitals and health systems across the country. Participating organizations must include one senior executive leader (i.e., CEO, CNO, CFO, CMO, or EVP) and at least three board members from individual hospitals and/or at the health system level.

Board members are crucial for guiding strategies around important decision-making in the organizations they support. It is imperative that board members and senior leadership increase their alignment in order to drive improvement within the communities they serve. This program will provide participants with a reorientation of hospital–community benefit programs, and will facilitate a dialog that focuses on individual dynamics that affect organizations in the regions they live.

Dr. Kevin Barnett, Dr.P.H., M.C.P., Senior Investigator for PHI and community benefit expert, will lead this strategic program and will be joined by a distinguished group of faculty.

The first cohort will be held February 20–21, 2016 in Boca Raton, Florida, immediately preceding the Governance Institute’s February Leadership Conference.
